Guest Hero2zero Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Hi there I wish to purchase a few games from handango, but I am not able to activesync my mobile. Can you download them as CAB files? Paul
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 You would probably have to contact the developers and see if they can email you the cabs (after you purchase from handango).
Guest Gorskar Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 I think if you browse on your mobile to the orange homepage you can buy them directly through your phone.
Guest Hero2zero Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 But does that download as an EXE or as a CAB file ... Has anyone tried this, does it work? Paul
Guest NederSoren Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 most games will proberly download as .exe files.. So im afraid you have to contact Handango or the game developer.. :)
Guest tomesy Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 I downloaded All locations explorer orignally through my phone by navigating from the Orange web page http://smartphone.orange.co.uk/today Under SPVFun you can buy games/apps directly. Not sure whether it downloaded a CAB or EXE but I know that it downloaded and installed no problem on my phone (which I guess means it was a CAB?)
Guest jonnybump Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 They do indeed download as .CAB files - I recently went on a coach holiday to Scotland for a few days and to pass the time while travelling, I decided to see what I could do with me phone. Went the the SPV Fun bit as someone already mentioned here, and as long as you've got your details at hand, it's a doddle - they all download as CAB files and run/install automatically when finished. Beware though - you'll probably run up HUGE bills downloading these CAB files, as I most certainly did! (damn you expensive Orange GPRS!!!) It could've just been cos I use the PAYG tariff that my credit depleted so quickly - I'm not sure what the charges are for you contract owners. And another thing is - if your connection is dropped for whatever reason, then it means you'll probably have to download the file from scratch! Jonathan
Guest Simon Desser Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 All you need to do, is run the exe on your PC, the cab is then automatically put in your PC's program files, either in a folder with the name of the game/app or developer, or in the Microsoft ActiveSync folder in Program files, again under the name of the game/app or developer :) Posted from my SmartPhone on the Costa Del Sol!
Guest neilarmstrong Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 If you buy from Clickgamer.com then you'll get an option to download either a CAB or an EXE (desktop pc installer). This is of course assuming that the software developer has uploaded both a CAB and EXE. Buy from Clickgamer.com...they are fantastic. They give more money back to developers, have excellent support and a great website (they only sell decent quality software unlike many of the other sites that will sell any old rubbish).
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 What is the point in reviving a topic that is almost three years old? As for clickgamer they are just one supplier but no one gives developers a better deal than the MoDaCo fairdeal software store. Developers get 80% of the sales. Other sites generally 40% or less.
