Guest fozzie Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 This is looking good. A couple of comments/bugs: 1. When switching accounts, the senders name has a " after it. 2. When switching back to the default account, the email account details remain at whatever the last selected account was. Is it possible to have the original details (prior to running Xmail) automatically put back when Default Account is selected? 3. I would prefer the .vol files to be kept on the Storage Card so as to keep as much IPSM free as possible. It soon starts to fill up if you have a few email accounts/.vol files. It would be really useful if Xmail had a config option to select where to save the .vol files. If this wasn't possible, how about using some registry entries that could be manually edited? Many thanks and keep up the good work :)
Guest Xetra Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Beta 2 available Download Fastest/easiest than beta 1 :)
Guest niacin65 Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 I did an alteration that I need to find the correct registry key to fix. When I first downloaded the Beta version, I noticed that cemail.vol had been replaced by my new email server name (pldt.vol), so silly me, I renamed it back to cemail.vol..Anyway, even if I delete that pldt.vol file, it keeps putting that one back on restart, rather than the standard cemail.vol file. Email works fine, but it kinda bugs me that I have changed this file name, and dont seem to be able to get it back to its original state. Can someone tell me which registry key is setting this to the NEW name as default? Please dont tell me I need to do a hard reset....(crying).

Guest fozzie Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 Thanks for the new version and the enhancements on the previous version. I've have one main problem/bug: When switching between accounts, the email password is lost. If I try do a send/receive I get a prompt for the password. When I enter it, the connection is redialled but I then get prompted to enter the password again and it fails to login to the mail server. There is something a bit strange that I think is related to this. After switching mail accounts, if you select 'Options' from tmail, 'Send/Receive email' is bold - in other words it is a selectable option. If, however, you then go into 'email setup' the wizard starts up as if tmail was not previously set up for email. But, when you click next, each field is pre-populated with the correct settings for that account, all the way through the wizard to the end - including the password. If I then do a send/receive, everything works fine. So, currently, each time I switch mail accounts, I have to wizz through the email setup wizard (just hitting next, next, next etc) before I can connect to the mail server. Hopefully this is something starightforward to fix? Many thanks. P.S. It would be great if eventually there is an option to be able to save the .vol files to the Storage Card.
Guest niacin65 Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 Thank you for the regedit trick. It worked.
Guest Xetra Posted August 29, 2003 Report Posted August 29, 2003 Beta 3 Available GlobalInbox enable you to use only ONE inbox folder to store all your email. Waiting for your bug report Xet'
Guest arnebret Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 Once again Xetra, GREAT app. It's VERY usefull to send/receive with several accounts: business/private etc. Is it possible that all accounts are receiving/sending when you give the command to do that? That way you can keep track of all your mailboxes without having to select one every time.
Guest fozzie Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Beta 3 Available GlobalInbox enable you to use only ONE inbox folder to store all your email. Waiting for your bug report Xet' Thanks for this new release. A couple of things: 1. I still seem to 'lose' my passwords after switching accounts (the same as I mentioned in an earlier post). When I switch accounts and then check email, I get a prompt to enter my password. When I enter it, it still fails to logon to the mail server. I have to use the same workaround of going through the email setup (although all the fields are populated including password?!) after switching accounts. This occurs for both individual and global inbox's. Anybody else get this? 2. If using a global inbox, emails that are not from the currently selected account dissappear from the inbox, when checking for mail. Is there any way of keeping them displayed? Many thanks.
Guest shareef Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Thanks for this new release. A couple of things: 1. I have to use the same workaround of going through the email setup (although all the fields are populated including password?!) after switching accounts. This occurs for both individual and global inbox's. Anybody else get this? yes I get a similar behaviour.. when I switch to the second email account, and try to check email, it actually never connects to GPRS. I have to go through the setup wizard and 'next' through each screen and after doing this without changing anything, I can then check email and it will connect to GPRS. For me, it's just a mild annoyance  and if I had to guess I think this is out of Xetra's hands (not something he will be able to fix), and has probably more to do with the fiddling of the .vol's which Inbox probably can't handle very well. Just guessing :)
Guest fozzie Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Phew, I thought it was just happening to me :) I agree, it is a minor annoyance but perhaps Xetra can do something. It seems strange, particularly when re-doing the email setup, the password field is correctly populated. I'm undecided about whether I prefer the global inbox or seperate inboxes. It would be good if the individual inboxes could be stored on the Storage Card (either through an option in Xmail or even just a registry edit). The main problem (for me) with the global inbox is losing messages that aren't on the account currently being checked. So, because of that, I use seperate inboxes.........for now ;)
Guest fozzie Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 hmmm, don't think you can. But I think if you ask a Mod, they can.
Guest arnebret Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 same problem here... no experience in losing mail though... The idea is great, so maybe a little tweaking here and there and we might have another Xetra 'ESSENTIAL' app :)
