Hey,

Does anyone know of software that will convert MPEG layer 3 into layer 2?

Cheers

Actaully, what we call MP3, MPEG3 or MPEG Layer 3 is actually MPEG1 Layer 3. There is also MPEG1 Layer 2 which is also audio, usually saved as an MP2 file. Generally that sucked as it was much worse than MP3 (Lower bit-rates and less compression).

There is also such a thing as MPEG2 Layer 3 which Nero uses in its MP3+ compression.

However, the default MPEG2 stream (Layer 1, as is MPEG1 Layer 1) is indeed video as Mono said. So are MPEG1 and MPEG4 (Which DivX is based). MPEG3 was skipped as everybody thought it was just audio.

OK, thats enough of being geeky for now!

So, you can convert and MP3 into an MP2, but it seems thats not what you wanted to do.
