Guest Myke Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 i installed the qtek 1.5 and it doesnt have english t9! i have no idea what language it is, there are a buncha weird symbols. i want to replace the dictionary file with the orange 1.5 dictionary file. how do i do it?
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 I don't believe you can....but wait for another reply to be sure.
Guest Myke Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 apparently the words are stored in t9english.dll but you cant copy it over because its held in the rom.. what if you were to hard reset and copy this file over before the phone connects to active sync, similar to copying the file over when you software unlock your phone.. would this work? could someone send me their 1.5 orange rom t9english.dll so i can try? :- D
Guest dinoalbert Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 the new ROM update by Eurotel...same as Qtek but this time it has the English t9...read here: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...r=asc&start=180 http://www.eurotel.cz/external/images/item...ruu150511.exe" oh and its here: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=89383
Guest Myke Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 nice, does the Euotel rom allow you to store ringtones on the SD card like the qtek with no 3rd party software?
Guest dinoalbert Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 According to their discussion, the Eurotel has the same feature as the Qtek plus the English T9
Guest Myke Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 sweet, thanks for the info. im gonna update now. why dont orange users update to this one as well? its app unlocked
Guest Pagemakers Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 apparently the words are stored in t9english.dll but you cant copy it over because its held in the rom.. Do you know why the words get forgotton if they are held in ROM?
Guest Myke Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 what do you mean by forgotten? theres hardly any english words in there to start out with..
Guest Myke Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 alright, i just installed the Rom and it has the exact same T9 dictionary as the Qtek :-/ Can someone upload or send me their t9english.dll from a 1.5 orange rom so I can test it out? thanks :]
Guest Pagemakers Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 When I say forget I mean stored words are sometimes lost. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Myke Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 ohh.. yeah thats lame, i dont know why that happens.
Guest thekrush Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 Myke:  :?: So...now I'm confused...does the Eurotel update have 'GOOD English T9' (unlike the QTek)? Some people in the Pinoy forum seem to say 'yes'...but you are saying otherwise. I want to make sure before I change from the QTek ROM to Eurotel. Thanks dude....LOS aka 'thekrush'
Guest Pagemakers Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 I had a Eurotel Smartphone (now sold for e100) and as far as I am aware the T9's English dictionary is the same as my new phones. I see no difference. Both still forget saved words as well.
Guest Myke Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 Eurotel might have more small words in the dictionary, but forget any semi complex words... like cereal. Also to type "me" you have to hit 63 then 0 six times to scroll through all the words with the weird symbols. I would like to use the Qtek rom because of the better splash screen and more programs, but if only i could replace it with the orange dictionary..
Guest Pagemakers Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 I never noticed anything like that when I had the phone. I can compare cos Ive had both phones. Posted from my SmartPhone!
