Guest arnebret Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 After a week with my spv, i was testing a moblog. The moblog requires you to send an EMAIL (not mms or whatever) with your picture as attachment, a topic and some optional text. The text and topic are no problem with the spv, but the attachment is. Somebody has (on purpose) forgotten to add the attachment option to the smartphone software. But the strange thing is, you CAN send attachments... somehow software like SmartExplorer can open a new message WITH an attachment and it works without any problem at all. I still find i very odd that the SPV cannot send attachments with the normal software, it'll only make the operator earn more money (more kb's). Am i overlooking something, because in my opinion, this is the only (STUPID) way to send pictures to you moblog.
Guest squall Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 IA album lets yuo do it, but first on the send mms attach photo, then on the to: type in the email address. not sure if it works but i heard someone saying it did.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 You are right that it is odd it is not included in the email client directly. You can also add attachments via IA Album...if you have that application on your phone. Highly recommended, if you dont. This is handy for the application you mention as you send the pictures directly from the camera application.
Guest arnebret Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 nope, that mms to email doesn't work. I tried it, but it won't have it... i have the Dutch Orange version of Canary SPV
Guest kyrkesmith Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 It's clearly set up like this by Orange deliberately. They charge you £0.40 for an MMS, but I'm sure it would cost you much less than 40p for an email attachment over GPRS, especially if you had bundled GPRS on your contract.
Guest arnebret Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 a pic at the largest size is about 25k. Here, 1MB costs 3 euro. So a, say 30k mail, would cost 0.09 euro, a LOT cheaper than mms :)

That's why we created SmartAttach  http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=98578
Guest midnight Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 yup, smartexplorer is by far the best way of adding attachments, cos its a full file explorer, you can rename the files before sending, check the details etc. and best of all is free (if you ignore the nag screen that appears very occasionally)

SmartAttach is free, and it will remain free for unlocked Smartphones (with no nag screen in the released version).
Guest midnight Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 errr, but smartexplorer has doen all this for some time, including multiple file selection and attaching aswell, and its free
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 errr, but smartexplorer has doen all this for some time, including multiple file selection and attaching aswell, and its free I know that other applications can attach files to email. SmartAttach is free too. So what? You just have more choice of free software, don't complain! SmartAttach is probably smaller that Smart Explorer. So if you already have a File Explorer built-in your phone (like on the i600), you may just need this small freeware. By the way, I heard that SmartExplorer is in fact Shareware, i.e. there is a occasional nag screen that reminds you that you should purchase it ($8.99) to clear your conscience  Are you encouraging people to not pay developers that make good Shareware ?
Guest Shuflie Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 He's probably thinking of all us early adoptor Plus members who got registered for smartexplorer and sp taskmanager for free.

This will bring you good karma.
