Mitac Mio 8380 - People I Call Say There Is An ECHO

About 60% of the people I call with my Mitac 8380 say they hear an echo. Meaning that they hear their own words echoed back to them. Does anyone know what would cause this? Is my phone bad? Is it T-Mobile? Might the speakphone be on?

Possible solution:

Turn your speaker volume down using the up and down key on the left hand side of the phone.

If that solves it then its not the phone its a common problem on all mobile phones.

I noticed an echo when I was talking to someone today, but that was after I took the piece of foil out of the back of the phone. A strip of foil in the lower part of the phone, behind the battery, actually makes reception stronger. It did for me.

foil directs more wavs to it, often phones just have the legal amount of waves coming to it, foil often attracts more than the unharmful amount. granted its enough foil

I kinda thought about that; That's why I took the foil out.

I have people saying that there is an echo too when I'm using either the headset or speakerphone. There is no echo however when using the phone normally. It appears that the 8380 wasn't fully tested before reaching the shelves. But that said, I have had numerous hardware and software issues with my Nokias.

When using the handsfree I think the echo is caused because both the microphone on the handsfree unit and the microphone on the phone itself are on. In other words, the mic on the phone does not turn off when the handsfree cord is plugged in. Anyone know how to fix this?
