Guest DubWireless Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 Does anyone else hear a whine-like sound from the camera when the camera app is in use with the camera attached (put the camera close to your ear)? It's changes slightly on what is happening, while preparing to shoot it / capturing / while it saves the image. Not a big problem, although it comes thorugh on the audio track if capturing any video. Is it just me or can you hear the data being processed!! Also, what's the difference between the camera on the SPV and the SPV-E100 - do both have the rubber/plastic piece around the connector (if so, are the rubber pieces they the same?) Thanks.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 I've heard the whine too, didn't think anything of it. The SPV and e100 camera's are exactly the same except for the e100's not having the rubber cushion around the plug.
Guest DubWireless Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 thanks for the info - at least it's smart enough to shut down when the camera app isn't running - funny to be able to hear the data being processed though - at least i know when it's working hard i suppose :) atb, Brian
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 It's highly unlikely that you are hearing the data being processed, more likely that it's the charge from the phone powering the camera.
Guest dax Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 It's highly unlikely that you are hearing the data being processed, more likely that it's the charge from the phone powering the camera. I think it's due to a small transformer inside the phone. You can hear the same thing on an S-Class alarm if it weren't for the piezo.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 I heard this for the first time when I was testing the extension cable, it's one of those sound you now listen out for instead of just ignoring it :)
Guest uzi_999 Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 i heard it the first day i got my phone....i thought the fone was buggered but then checked my mates and ....phew!!i heard it the first day i got my phone....i thought the fone was buggered but then checked my mates and ....phew!!

Guest DubWireless Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 It's highly unlikely that you are hearing the data being processed, more likely that it's the charge from the phone powering the camera. in fact it's impossible to hear it's data being processed - the comment has a  at the end to mean it was light hearted  the noise only happens when either the image from the camera is being displayed or the shot has been taken - so while data is being processed (i.e. while it's operational/powered) it's audible unless you are trying to make the point that it's not possible to hear the data itself (1s and 0s) racing around - if so thanks for the electronics 101
Guest HelloDave Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 I always hear the squeaky noise on mine - it's quite weird! I assume its the electronics in the camera - there must be some sort of transformer in there; possibly the image sensor needs some weird voltage the phone can't provide, so it needs a mini PSU. At least it isn't as noisy as the charger - that's stopped me getting to sleep before!
