Guest 4N1L Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 Afternoon Guys Just need a bit of reassurance over this 3 months free Open Access promotion i've been given. As i understand from reading other related threads the promotion only allows me to access WAP sites (whether it be through WAP or GPRS). I think i have the correct settings to do this but i'm not too sure. In order to access WAP sites through a GPRS connection i have the following settings in Data Connection: Internet Connection: Orange GPRS Work Connection: None WAP Connection: Orange WAP Secure WAP: None To make sure i can only access WAP sites i have the following settings in Internet Explorer Auto Detect Settings: unticked box Select Network: WAP Network Does this sound right? Will these stop me inadvertently accessing sites which are not part of the promotion? Thanks all!
Guest martin Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 That's correct 4NIL. When setting IE to WAP network only, it will force the use the WAP connection which can be configured for WAP over GPRS (APN orangewap) or WAP over GSM. Both WAP connections are free to both Orange PAYG and Orange Contract (with open access). If you check properties you will see that all pages are accessed using WSP (wireless Session Protocol) which is part of the WAP (Wireless Application Protocol).
Guest 4N1L Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Thanks for that Martin, was just a little confused with all those settings! Next up is my OTA unlocking problem...i'll be back :)
