Qtek 7070 - Low movie fps and Mp3 lag!!

Hi there! (first of all, sorry for my bad english!)

I've just bought me a Qtek 7070, and I'm just a little disappointed. Why? Well first of all when I'm trying to play movies (.mpeg) I only got like 1fps, 8fps if I'm lucky and the movie is in really bad quality. The movie is lagging and that NO fun to look at. I have tryed a different types of movie players like PocketTV and PocketMVP (now called PocketDivX?) What's wrong? I have tryed different ways to recompress these files to get them in exactly 220x178 pixels, low video bitrate and low audio bitrate.. And it seems like nothing works! :[ Is it possible to get a movie to play smoothly and with good quality on my phone?

And my second question, when I playing mp3:s with the media player and got it in the background.. I can't almost do anything without having my mp3:s to lag and that really SUCKS. For an example.. when I'm having the media player in the background with some good music I can't even scroll in the contact list without having it to lag! Is it like that for all of you or am I doing something wrong? I have tryed to shut down all applications with tools like QuickClose but nothing works...

I'm now consider to buy me a SonyEricsson T610 instead because my phone is to f***ing slow!

What should I do? Please help me

(dont know it "lag" is the right word to use but I hope you understand me anyway! )

I use Windows Media Player, and whilst the frame rate ain't brilliant, it's perfectly acceptable. However, I encode everything as a .wmv using Windows Media Encoder. I use the following settings:

Audio Codec: Windows Media Audio 9

Video Codec: Windows Media Video V8

Audio: 10 kbps 11kHz mono CBR

Video size: for 4:3 ratio: 160 x 120; for 16:9 ratio: 160 x 90; for 2.35:1 ratio: 160 x 68

Frame rate: 8 fps

Video bit rate: 54 kbps

Buffer size: 5 seconds

Video smoothness: 75

I'm satisfied with the results using an SPV E100, and I think it's the best you're going to get with a phone. Yes, my iPaq is better, but it's processor is about twice as fast; it's about twice as big; and it can't make phonecalls.

Thanx for your help mate!

But why use .wmv when windows media player is the only player wich support it and u can't get it in full screen mode? The display is small enough for looking on movies so full screen mode in 90° Left is a must! Don't you think so? :)

And what about the mp3 player, is it lagging for you when u goes around in the phone menu and scrolls in the contact list?

Yeah, I hear what you're saying about the video. It's just that I find the quality on the wmvs reasonable, and the file sizes likewise, i.e. good compression. I also find that Windows Media Encoder is great for encoding exactly how you want the file so that it is optimised for the Smartphone.

Mine slows down when listening to music too, but I'm not sure you'd be able to find a phone that didn't. I think it will be vastly improved when the newer Windows Mobile 2003 devices come out, hopefully with XScale processors.
