New E-100 - Connection problem

Recommended Posts

Posted

Just bought a new E-100 from a MoDaCo member. It's brand new from Orange.

Installed Sim, but when trying to make a call get a no line/disconnected number tone.

Phone works fine on cradle with Net, Email etc. It will receive calls but just wont make them or send SMS.

Call barring isn't selected.

Anyone have any ideas please.

No it's on a monthly contract. When I put the Sim back into my old SPV it's fine!

I'd speak to Orange CS. If you're lucky, they may be able to help. They may be able to send a configurator or something.

The email, is that on a Pass though connection, or is it dialling up or connecting to GPRS or something?

Mail on Pass thro', Orange CS not interested. They call it an 'Indirect Upgrade' 'cos the handset not bought from them!

How f***ing stupid - they're the manufacturer of the phone (sort of, anyway) so they've got to be slightly responsible. If I were you, I would try again - it very much depends on which operator you get. If still no help, contact Hays on 01295662109. They're the repair centre for SPVs and SPV E100s. If they decide they need to take it in, they don't require a receipt or anything (although the letter accompanying the envelope they send says you do - it's wrong, they don't want one, because all SPVs and SPV E100 are less than a year old at the moment). At least they might be able to "diagnose" the problem.

Oh, also, you're sure it's fine receiving calls? What about receiving SMSs?

Yep, can receive voice calls & SMS. Reception fine, just no outgoing. Damn strange.

Suppose it could be a hardware problem. Do contact Hays, they might have seen it before. Also speak to the geeza wot sold you the phone, if you haven't already.

Are you getting a triple tone when you dial out ?

You would get this if you have set outgoing calls to line 2 when it is not provisioned.

Check Settings - Telephony - Call options.

Incoming calls would be OK as people will still call your line 1 number.

Hmmmm. Sorted - took 2 hard resets, but phone now ok!

Thanks everyone for all the ideas - Thanks Orange for nothing.
