Guest Stealth Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 I was washing my car the other day and oooops  I dropped my spv in the bucket of water ( I mean It actually went under ) any ways I thought s**t will my oc cover this. I turned the phone off because the screen had water in it and was showing all funny colours. The sameday I went for a day trip to the wm Safari Park, While I wa driving around the park I left my phone on my car dash to dry off (shame I couldnt take any photos with my spv), about 2 hours later I tried my phone again and I was amazed  it turned on...I made a call and it worked fine, The screen still had water and was showing slight rainbowish colours, by the next it was fine, actually it looked more clear ( I think the water washed the dust under the screen - ps dont try this method to clean the dust  ), and I can confirm now ( 4 days later ) my phone is as good as before ( actually with a cleaner inner screen). hey I think this phone was made for a bond movie..... SPV.... I LUV IT !!!

Guest mcwarre Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 You lucky, lucky, bar steward
Guest davidhorn Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 That's nothing. I once dropped my laptop in a swimming pool in Algeria - left it in the sun for a day and it worked fine. Still works fine 14 months later - using it right now. It sank right to the bottom, switched on. In fact, it ran for about 20 seconds. I looked at the windows desktop underwater. If that isn't decent engineering I don't know what is. Sony VAIO superslim z505 if you're interested.
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Yeh - you could throw a Sony product off a 3 story house (or a brick wall-whichever tickels your fancy) and still make out what its use is - bloody AIBO is dog still asking for a walk round the block lol !!! SpaceCowboy
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 My other half previously had a Nokia 8310. One day, we couldn't find it, so we tried phoning it and everything, no joy! Then she suddenly remembered that it was in the pocket of her jogging bottoms, which were in the wash. We accelerated the wash to the end, and retrieved the phone. It was still on, with '1 missed call' on the display! :-O After powering off and drying out, all worked fine. Same thing happened with an MCA20 T68 camera, accidentally washed it, dried it, and it worked fine after :) On a negative note, I got a T68i on the day it came out, had just turned it on, put it in it's cool belt clip, went to the bog, and as I turned to take a seat (sorry about the detail), it fell down the toilet... and wouldn't work ever again ;) Wasn't insured either as it was SIM free, doh! P
Guest Hax Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 "]Wasn't insured either as it was SIM free, doh! Will your home contents insurance cover it? Hax
Guest mike-oh Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 Covered under "act of toilet" ? :)
Guest XGEOX Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 I *very nearly* jumped into a swimming pool with my spv camera in my pocket the other day - the trouble is that the thing is so dam small, you forget it's there... until it's too late :) Before getting my spv, i had a Philips Savy C12 (remember those?) That thing survived repeated abuse throughout it's life - various drops, water (left it outside in the rain by accident), left on the dashboard of a car in baking heat. No-one would nick the thing, so I could leave it anywhere  - it was even run over by a car  . It still works.
