A New User Needs Help !!!!!!!

I recently bought a used Network Unlocked SPV, and have a few questions. I would be pleased if somebody could answer them.

1. How can you install and run applications from ur SD? Can you do it using Smart Explorer?

2. Can I have ringing tones / homescreens in the SD?

3. Can I get my own picture (only the picture not layout) as the homescreen?

4. I was told the phone is not registered. Now I'm using a Viring SIM (no GPRS). How can I 'Unlock the Software'? Can I do it using someother SIM card or do I need an Orange SIM? I 'think' at the orange site, I have to put my mobile number. would it be ok to put mine? (since I don't have GPRS, I'm going to use one of my friends SIM card - Vodaphone) Because if they cross check, will it not work because it is not the original sim for the phone?

Yes you can use smart explorer. If the program uses a PC installer to install the application....no problems, right?

If you have a CAB file...copy the cab to the SD card using ActiveSync...explore. Then, using smartexplorer, navigate to the cab and run it. Follow the directions. It's recommended that you install to the SD card itself when prompted, so you save the phone's memory for processing. (unless it's a program that needs to run on the phone or one you want to be there even if you swap out the SD.

2. Can I have ringing tones / homescreens in the SD?

Homescreens must be located on the IPSMApplication DataHome directory. Do a search on 'ringtones' on this site to find out options for adding ringtones to your SD. I believe I read that you can...I just personally dont know how.

3. Can I get my own picture (only the picture not layout) as the homescreen?

Sure...just create a homescreen XML with no plugins...or just the radiosignal plugin at the top (iconbar) and choose your background picture. (no iconbar...176 x 200)(with iconbar...176x180)

You can still use the Orange Unlock site. Find out how by clicking Here ---> OTA.

You can use a pass-thru connection instead of GPRS.

using your own pic for a background: simply copy the image (see sizes above). into the directory ipsm/application data/home.

then in the settings select it from the background list.
