Guest Ravis Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Ummm... I seem to have a bit of a problem here. Been using my phone for about 3 weeks now, a couple minor problems but nothing major. Then this morning I plugged my phone in to charge (and sync) and went off to do some other things. Came back a little while later and the filesystem on the storage card was... well.... munged. Tons of files / directories with garbage filenames, bogus sizes (a couple of them were >4GB) and dates from 1600 to 2200. It appears that all my valid files and folders were randomly shuffled around and renamed / etc. Basically big time corruption. After swearing up and down for awhile I decided to reboot the phone and presto! Everything was back to normal! Can access all my files again, all my programs work, and everything is where it should be. All the garbage is gone. Now, does anyone have any clue at all why it would have done this? Or is it just one of those random corruption things? Anyone else ever seen this?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Glitches do seem to occur and it could be down to the card coming dislodged or the contacts not quite making or being dirty. This problem has been reported before and as you have found out rebooting normally fixes it. Another similar problem is when the phone fails to read the card, removing and plugging the card back in normally fixes this.
Guest Ravis Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Was hoping to hear that it was something specific so it could be avoided in the future ;-) Thanks for taking the time to reply tho. :-D And it's nice to hear a) people have seen this before and :) that it's usually easily fixable.
