Guest JeckeL Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Hi all, I have problems unlocking my spv. I want to be able to install all kinds of software on my phone, whith or whithout certificate. I read that I have to modify two files from my phone, which have the lines 'securitypolicy' but I can only find these lines in one of the two files. And I don't seem to get the file copied into the phone when it's booting (activesynch isn't connected at that moment) Does anybody else have these problems, and can somebody please help me? Best regards, Alfons
Guest mavisdavis Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Use the net. http://www.developers.orange.com/WorkingWi.../SPV/Unlocking/ Its the easiest way. :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Ok how old is the phone and what update do you have on it? as it's more likely that the only way you can decert is by using the method in the link above. The old method of updating the files has technically obsolete for a while now. PS moved to Help and Advice
Guest TonyL Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Hi, Ive just got an SPV and spent the last few days trying to unlock with no luck what so ever. I have been to the link listed, entered my details and the number a zillion different ways ie +4479704****** etc. Which should be the correct way. I then also bring up the GPRS link for ages and not a thing. What am I doing wrong? :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 First off are you on Orange UK? if not then go to the Sticky http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=25600
Guest TonyL Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Hi, thanks that was a quick reply :) Im on Orange UK. I found that article and have been through it a number of times and still dont seem to be getting anywhere ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Ok so what is actually happening? Does the site allow you to enter your IPSM and phone number? If so what happens when you click OKNext etc
Guest TonyL Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Waheey! Seems like Im nearly there. Finally got to the web site and down loaded action register. Finally got it to run on the SPV and have just had the screen that says Its now "unlocked" Now Im at a screen that shows: Carrier: Orange IMEI: etc Phone: 07970****** Stauts Action Lock is running, phone is registered. Im assuming (I need some sleep) that its ll done :) Sheesh, and Im a techie! maybe proves that configuring a NG firewall and unlocking the phone shouldnt be done at the same time aahhhh! Thanks for your help, Im going to get some sleep before my eye sight finally goes. I'm going to have a go installing some apps tomorrow - hopefully ;)
Guest TonyL Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 OK I couldnt resist - Just installed speey menus and Orneta Notepad and all inst' fine - may I rest in peace - well at least 7hrs before more firewall config!! ahhh
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Why, what's happened? Did you get the message on the phone saying the it was now decerted?
Guest TonyL Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 Yes, after running the Action Register on my phone it worked and I got the screen confirmation. As a side note, I found out that OrangeUK's GPRS has been down for days (not that they would ever think of telling anyone) Therefore, I wonder if the problem with the normal way of de certing was being hampered by the fact that it couldnt make a connection - I guess so. Next I want to unlock the phone completely so that I can put an O2 sim in and get a decent GPRS/text bundle.
