i have a SPV which developed a fault with the headset in that when the handsfree kit was taken out i still couldnt get any sound and noticed that the headset and no sound icon where on. therefore i couldnt hear phone calls etc.

i called up Hays technology as the phone i still under warranty

they picked up the phone.

1 week later i get a later from them saying that i will have to pay £60 to fix the phone as the problem is a customer fault???

LIKE BULL!!! i looked in this forum and noticed that alot of people have had the same problem with the headset and i know you guys didnt pay £60!!! what do i do?

Find out what they mean by customer fault?

Have you ever taken the phone apart?

The biggest problem you have is that if you decide not to have the reapair done, then have to pay to have the phone returned back to you otherwise it will be enviromentally disposed of.

The headphone fault in normally repaired under warranty as I have just bought a secondhand phone and this

fault was fixed free of charge, but because the phone had been taken appart they still wanted just under £18 to

return the phone as warranty was void.

Another thought, did you try any of the advice about fiddling with a cocktail stick in the socket to try and fix the fault? if so they may have found signs of this happening and that's why they want to charge?

Read my added comment to my post, apart from that post why they say it's your fault if you manage to find out.

Is there anyway trading standards can do somethign about this.

as £60 does not make any sense for a problem that seems to be generic to the headsets anyway?

Well you can give them a go but remember if the process is slow Hays will dispose of your phone :)

Like I said ask Hays for a breakdown in costs and why they think you are at fault.

I asked

£40 labour?

still not saying what the fault is. just saying its some damage on the port which denotes customer fault

which is bull as i wouldnt have even played with that
