Guest bruxelles5 Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Hi there, I have inserted a small wav into the startup folder (IPSMWindowsStartup ) since then, I have this song playing when I turn on my SPV. Now I want to remove the file I can't ?? can you help? Look like the file is in use somewhere. In XP I will look at the process and kill it. But in the SPV how can I do this? I started to set a Startup song after seen this post in an other forum : >> Install a startup sound >> >> If you go to... >> >> IPSMWindowsStartup >> >> Add a WAV file in here. Now switch the phone off and on - you should now >> have a start up sound!! :)
Guest goinnuts Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 have recently added anew skin to your phone? or a sounds cab? if so i had a similar prob. open your ipsm then program files. if its not there then see if you have a new folder in your ispm. maybe called the skin name. hope this helps mark.

Guest cpt_andy Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Try using '_Task manager' to kill background tasks before attempting to delete the file. Perhaps the sound player isn't closing properly. Cpt. Andy
Guest kudosam67 Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 i had to do a hard reset to get rid of the sound file.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Rename the file extension to anything you like ie .jpg Then power offon your phone then in activsync you will now be able to delete the file :)
Guest phantom Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 Had the same problem once. easily fixed! no hardware reset needed! Simply copy all teh contents of the startup directory into a new directory - call it startup1 or something. In the startup1 directory delete the sound file. rename startup to startup2 (dont delete yet in case things go wrong for any reason.. didnt with me but play it safe!) rename startup1 to startup reboot sound shouldnt play if ok delete startup2
