Guest pcheaven Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 I have sim unlocked orange E100, with latest QTEK rom on VODAFONE. GPRS IS OK, but slow. MMS never works. Any ideas people, I have entered the settings verbatum as in the repository, and tried various ammendments. They are perfect. however when sending MMS the progress bar reports Connecting...., then connected.... However it never sends anything. It is not my sim, or VOD account as I put it in my Sharp GX 20 and all is fine. It used to work VERY occasionally with the Eurotell CZ ROM, say 1 in 50 times, and this was running an earlier version of SMART MMS ( contradiction in terms there I think!). IS this later version of SMART MMS in this ROM incompatible with Vodafone contract UK. Help people....... PS. CAn anyone view this url on their SPV. I cantPC heaven test page

Guest martin Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 Its the only thing I have never tried with my Vodafone (prepaid) SIM  I'll think I'll give it a go this weekend. Have you checked the MMS data in your Sharp GX 20 and made sure that the SPV MMS data is the same (APN, IP, MMSC, etc.) If I'm right I don't think Vodafone can handle MMS messages greater than 30k so remember to test with small messages to start with. Also MMS will be less tolerable to a poor data connection as it will only try to send the message a few times before giving an error. Have you tried using MMS in different areas ? (if MMS works OK on the sharp then it should be OK on the SPV) Software/EZOS/EZWAP/V25 in the Registry gives you an idea of some of the MMS settings. Try a username/password of wap for a Vodafone live account. Create GPRS connection Description : Vodafone MMS Connects to : Orange MMS Access point: wap.vodafone.co.uk User name: wap Paswword: wap Settings - Accessories - MMS setup First field: Vodafone MMS IP: 212.183.137.012 Port: 9201 Mmsc Address: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms

However the sharp is 100% perfect and at least 10 times quicker sending the same message back. Honestly no exageration!!. How can it be Soooooooo slow!!. This is bugging the life out of me. I will use my SE t610 for the time being, as I have a MItac smartphone coming form the USA, due monday. Hopefullly that wil be quicker. . . . . . AT last just downloaded the message send from my GX 20, it took less than 30 seconds to send, and more than 6 minutes to retreive onto the SPV. NOT IMPRESSED. Thanx again for the settings Thanx
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 Time to send and receive is down to the network not the phone.
