Guest BigSid Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 I've seen the sticky thread but im not an Orange user so i was wondering if the same process i.e. going through the official Orange site would apply? Cheers 8)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Yes it will :) Have a look at this thread. http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=25600
Guest BigSid Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Thanks for the reply mate but i cannot get it to work due to the fact it says i need to have made an internet connection with my phone. Thing is i cannot. everytime i go to it says unable to plac e call. This maybe cause im not allowed GPRS as my sim's a company phone and were not allowed it. Any ideas? cheers 8)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 use Passthrough so you use your internet connection on your PC :) That's the way I do it as I don't use GPRS either.
Guest BigSid Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 a bet you had a fiver on what i'd ask next didn't you  whats passthrough mate? Tell you what, it's a good job these forums exist or i'd be well up the kreek :)
Guest BigSid Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 i've found it mate 8) But i can't get the fecker to work :) keep getting "the page you are looking at cannot be found" :?:
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Right connect your phone to the PC using passthrough and go to the Orange Developers site on the PC, not the phone. :) Also on the devopers site if you get a white page try turning off your firewall if you have one activated.
Guest BigSid Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Thanks mate, i'll try it when im at home as the official Orange site still says my phones never been connected to the net  I've set the phone up as passthrough for the net and set the Activesync as passthrough on my PC but when i try to connect to the net on my phone (i know i have to do the delock on my PC net not the phone net) just so it's connected to the net once i keep getting a "page cannot be found" alert message. I've tried to connect to all the standard pages that are on the phone and also to standard ones like Google and BBC. The only thing i can think is cause it's the works firewall not allowing passthrough to work propperly :?: Anyway, thanks for yer help, no doubt i'll be backl on tomorrow when i can't get it to work from home either :) cheers 8)
Guest seanjon Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 To get an Internet Connection to your phone from your PC you have to got to OPTIONS in the AtiveSync program and Select Connection pass through to INTERNET. Make sure you are connected to Internet, and you phone should be too! Peace! -Sean J From T.O
