Confused about ROM

Excuse my ignorance here, but as a newbie.........there's lots of talk about different types of rom's from Qtex, Eurotel etc. Can someone please explain!!!

Differnet phone companies (orange, eutotel etc) release updates for their phone at differrent times. The updates can include extra programs, features and bugfixes. These updates can usually be applied on the equivalent handset from another operator to get these features, although it is not supported and can sometimes lead to issues with t9 languages etc. It is usually best to stick with the updates given out by your own operator unless you have an urgent need for the additional features.
