Guest JampoTT Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Hi folks Was merrily using the phone about an hour ago, received a text message, and went to go into the inbox to read it. Device stated it was out of memory. Tried to fire up another program (one of the taskmanager ones) but this wouldn't start either Decided to power off and reboot the phone - but now it hangs on the Sunset screen! I've tried booting with and without the Sim card AND the SD card installed - but no joy. Also tried getting to the bootloader as well, but I can get the Canary screen with v0.98 on it, but pressing the action key doesn't bring up a menu, so I don't even know if I can hard reset it!!! Please help!
Guest unclelimey Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 i had the same problem with my spv, all it did was hang on the sunset screen im afraid the only way to fix this problem was to get a replacement handset from orange.... gotta love that orange care insurance
Guest Aardvark Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Had exactly the same problem this morning, just sits on sunset screen… Hello orange care, can I have a new phone please... :)
Guest JampoTT Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Yeah They are shipping one out to me tomorrow...... Wonder if I'll get a Tanager instead - that'd be nice!!
Guest Will Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Erm Usually, a hard reset sorts this. (press and hold action button until the white screen appears). Otherwise i've resurrected via a foreign update, (that erases ipsm), hard reset, then install original orange update. Orange care has it's uses:) Will
Guest JampoTT Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 The white screen isn't appearing when I try and hard reset....... *sigh*
Guest beersoft Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Hi when this happend to me on saturday (long story, well off topic and isn't very interesting but now im unlocked and with a new simcard) OC's first and funniest suggestion was "turn the phone off, put it on charge for 10 min's then turn it on" which doesn't work by the way :) just moan at them untill they give you a replacment. the phone is broken and they know it later -- owen "if your happy and you know it , sniff a hobo"
Guest vijay555 Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Guys, if you can, get a replacement. But i'm stubborn, and it tooks me hours to get there, but in the end, my solution (posted a thousand places all over the board), is to get to the canary screen, try to flash with orange update (1.3), and if that still doesn't work, (didn't for me), flash with SAP 1.3 (i think), which did work, and then imate 1.5, which now makes my e100 healthier and happier then it ever was with orange, and no problems since. I couldn't get it to take ANY other flashes successfully. this combo worked for me tho, and i'm happy now. V
Guest AngelOfRage Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 both me and my mate had this problem, his was after a hard reboot and he just left it for about 20mins and it started working again, so i did the same on mine, it was like it just took ages to load up...
