Guest MECX Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 "Samsung has announced what it claims to be the worlds fastest mobile processor, the 533MHz S3C2440, which goes into large scale production this winter. With a touch screen interface and compatable with Windows, Palm and Symbian operating systems we should see it energing in Palmtops ,pocket PCs and smartphones early next year." EDIT:- From Stuff (not T3 duh) magazine it has a picture of a SPV next to the article as well 8)
Guest Greywolf_Ghost Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 Just because MS puts out a white paper and Intel Xscale/ ARM are the only chip being compiled for...... Now please take note of the date This was released March 20th 2002 600 MHz....so how is a 533 the worlds fastest?????????????? http://www.commsdesign.com/new_products/OE...EG20020319S0053
Guest MECX Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 worlds fastest MOBILE processor the one you outlined is for 'networking architectures' so i dont know how it could be mobile---as in for mobile phones or PDA's i mean you can carry a laptop with a 3.06GHz pentium in it if you want to. maybe its worded badly but its still a damn fast procesor for a mobile phone--all we need now if for someone to make a Geforce the size of a postage stamp and were set :)
Guest Crispy Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 Now, whos gonna slam one of these silicon wonders into a phone that you can actually purchase? Any press releases / leaked info speak of this?
Guest Greywolf_Ghost Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 I will provide a better link..... I just did a quick search and posted the first matching link......dumb thinking on my part...... However the news clip I was reading was a chip geared toward the Windows CE.Net platform. As CE.Net still supports multi platform PDA/Smart Device chip development. Ok what I have so far......( can't find the news item I read a few months ago ) However what I do remember is the 64bit Mips chip was being tested on a design level PDA/GPRS phone. I'll find it again, I just have to remember how I stumbled on to it the first time. I tried looking back at a few past posts on other boards where I had listed links, but no luck so far.

Guest MECX Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 dont worry about it mate i think these companys always claim to have the 'worlds best' anyway and then later change it to the worlds best processor designed for Windows, Palm and Symbian operating systems. :) ;)

"RM7035C is available in a 128-pin ExposedPad™ 20 x 20 mm package, pin-compatible with the RM5231A 128-pin ExposedPad™ product" Looks pretty mobile to me, although they say it can be clocked to 600MHz, but are currently selling 533MHz clocked versions
Guest Greywolf_Ghost Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 I guess being a Casio BE300 owner, I am still a bit over reactive when MIPS is just ignored. When it all comes down to it, every chip maker makes the best, fastest, strongest, depending on its use. MIPS only hope is for CE.Net to catch on.....but I don't see it happening. There are more Linux PDA's out now then CE.Net
Guest mikeeey Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 thats not the worlds fastest smartphone processor, this is: http://www.cbronline.com/article_news.asp?...ED-1C5B821A502A
