Guest gadget1 Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 I've no doubt opened myself up to a barrage of insults and condemnation even admitting to this......but is there any way of picking up my AOL e-mail through my SPV???? Orange tell me the servers aren't compatable??
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 From what I remember from others asking, no it's not possible :)
Guest blewer Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 It is possible. But you have to use WAP. Go to your AOL account on your PC, goto keyword= MOBILE. Click on 'AOL on your mobile' Then 'sign up now' You input the details of your phone etc... You will need to enter a 4 digit number password. It will then give you a link, which you type in as a favorite on your SPV. Then when you click it, enter 4 digit code, read e-mails. EASY!!! Hope this helps. This is the only way it's possible! P.S Don't bother setting up your wap address book doesn't seem to work on SPV. Adam :)
Guest gadget1 Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 Thanks Guys, very helpful of you
Guest gadget1 Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 I was wondering when it would start :)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 I just called to cancel my AOL account, as i'd only installed it for the free dialup access until i got my cable back. The conversation with the cancellation line went something along the lines of: AOL: Hi how can i help you Me: Hi i'd like to cancel my account please AOL: OK fine, i see you signed up last month and used your 180 hours within a week, thats fantastic, but you seem to have suddenly stopped using it? Me: Yes, i only signed up for the free access until i got my cable back AOL: You only signed up for the free hours? Me: Yes AOL: Oh, ok. Heres your cancellation number Me: Cheers, bye He seemed hurt that i'd been "abusing" their service :) topic>
Guest cpt_andy Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 He seemed hurt Always a pleasure with AOL I'm sure :) Cpt. Andy
Guest nickcornaglia Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 I think they just became confused when your response was not listed in their customer conversation manual.
Guest XGEOX Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 I think they just became confused when your response was not listed in their customer conversation manual. Maybe they are just unfamiliar with the concept of honesty?
Guest Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 I used to be on AOL for their unlimited package - then phoned up to cancel when I got broadband. When asked why I was cancelling they obviously tried to sell me their broadband package – I declined saying that the package I was going to was cheaper (£25 per month). The CS rep then told me that nobody can do broadband that cheap and that AOL were the cheapest around – “plus you get exclusive content!”. :? Methinks AOL tell their staff nothing about the technology, concepts, market and competitors – “just stick to the script”.
Guest pisquee Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 I used to use AOL for free access (did a few times) when i had win 95, but wasn't supplied with a CD. I couldn't thereofre install dial up networking for a normal ISP account, but as AOL used its own system i could use them - everytime i called up to cancell they would offer me another month free - went on for three of four months before they would let me cancel outright with no more free months~!
Guest gadget1 Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 Well I've been with AOL for about 8 years with no complaints - obviously my lack of experience in the matter! My only issue was with not being able to collect my e-mail when mobile, but thanks to the wealth of knowledge in this forum, this has been solved :) I am not worthy ;)
