Guest Paul [MVP] Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 Reuters is carrying a story today about the Motorola Smartphone (as exclusively revealed on MoDaCo), and the imminent launch on Orange. Click here to read the article in full, but it states: The Financial Times, without citing sources, reported on Thursday that a Microsoft-powered phone by Motorola would be launched this month. Interesting times... ;-) P
Guest john newhouse Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 some good healthy competition for the voyager cant be bad :)
Guest morpheus2702 Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 Posted from my SmartPhone! wonder where that will leave SPV development?
Guest amo Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 Not sure about this month. Can't say I have seen it in our list of pending handsets tbh. I know the new LG flip phone (with camera and rotating screen) and the new panasonic gd87 upgrade will be out soon though.
Guest goinnuts Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 between now and november moto v600 or v700 should be out on orange quad band as well. edit. moto v500 and v600 to be released. sorry.
Guest rossy Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 See this link for lots of pics of the Motorola smartphone. http://mobil.idnes.cz/mobilni_komunikace/m...x200030830.html It's in Russian, but there are lots of pics. Im sure you can use google or something to translate if you want. Rossy.
Guest john newhouse Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 my russian isn't up to much but you can clearly make out that the cpu in the motorola is faster than the HTC phones (200mhz, compared to 120mhz HTC) :)
Guest morpheus2702 Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 Competition for the Voyager? More like the death-blow for the SPV2 - unless it is dirt cheap, the SPV2 won't stand a chance against the Moto!

Guest amo Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 Not had a chance to read it to be honest, booked most of September and August off work :)
Guest goinnuts Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 only arrived friday. personnally want to the handspring though.
Guest morpheus2702 Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 Posted from my SmartPhone! it will be interesting to see what the Handspring is like, I thought that given the lack of new product from them, they were winding their operations down. Palm OS still sucks though! ;-)
Guest goinnuts Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 not tried palm. ms cool, symbian ok ish jus need to try the palm.
Guest amo Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 I'm not a great fan to be honest, although I've only tried the older modals.
Guest morpheus2702 Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 Posted from my SmartPhone! Getting off topic, I just can't see how Palm can compete today. Pictures, video, music - it all consumes memory, and that is something Palms are just not equipped with. I had a Clie for 5 months and in the end, I just didn't use it. The whiz bang Tungsten was out of date as soon as it was launched, and it is only Sony that is pushing the OS forward. Well, that's my two penneth worth!
Guest victor_RUS Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 The original article about Motorola Smartphone (in English) you can find here: http://www.mobile-review.com/preview/motor...a-v700-en.shtml I've got a chance to compare it with my Mio 8380 and Orange SPV. First it is much smaller than Mio, second its screen can't be compared with Mio it is more like SPV's. This Moto will be available in Russia this Autumn.
