Guest pcheaven Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 how do I Remove country code prefix eg +44 in outlook. I have some 600+ contacts, and cannot find a util anywhere to remove the international dialing prefix. Any ideas people......
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 I am not aware of an app to remove the country prefix. You could ask Paul and see if he has anything, as he wrote the original app to convert to the +44 prefix.
Guest pcheaven Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 viewed 26 times and still no solution posted. Does this mean a lot of people have the same problem?
Guest pisquee Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Not sure why you view this as a problem, as the phone is meant to work with numbers in full international form. Put them into local country format and your phone won't be as happy, mainly with incoming SMS (ie. you won't know who has sent you the messages - you will just get the number, in international form, and no corresponding name.)
Guest pcheaven Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 works fine on My Mio without +44
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 As the Mio is still a new phone and not widely available this is the first time I have seen posted that it does not need the +44 prefix. Also I believe you are the first person to ask to remove the +44, if you had explained that in the first post the reasons behind your request would have made sense ;) As I said before ask Paul as he wrote the reformatter, he's the one to ask if he can tweak the app to reverse the process.
Guest pcheaven Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Just did a little test re +44 on My unlocked Mio 1. When receiving SMS the +44 is NOT needed in the contact in order to convert the senders number to a contact name in the message 2. When sending a SMS if you enter the telephone number instead of searching for contact it never converts the number to a contact name with or without the +44 3. When dialing a land line or a mobile using predictive input the +44 is not needed to convert the number to a contact name 4. When dialing out using predictive input it does not always convert the number to a contact name until after you have established a network connection. irrespective of +44 Note. all predictive entries were done using telephone numbers not contact names ?????
Guest pcheaven Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Oh. I did PM Paul - No reply. Probably because there are more SPVs than MIOs and little demand for this app. By The by WOT IS THE RATIO OF SPV TO MIO OWNERS ON THIS FORUM? COULD MAKE AN INTERESTING ADDITION TO THE FORUM TO TRACK SUCH THINGS
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Paul may not have answered yet as apart from being busy he gets just a few pm's a day ;) As for SPV to Mio I would think the number is around 50 to 100/1 but remember there are quite a few members who do not post.
