Guest nixy Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 The Story so far ------------------ It was a cold winters night and the rain was getting worse and worse.... We'd been driving for what seemed like an eternity but had only actually been a couple of hours. We must have gone through so many small towns by now looking for a room for the night, but always the same answer........"sorry...but we're full" So,we all decided to sleep in the car ageeing first to drive until we could find a clearing by the wayside. We hadnt planned on leaving so quickly, but with a heavy workload starting monday and the stresses at home, it didnt take any of us that long to just pack a few things and head out into the night........

Guest xadris Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 .......the four us had been working together for the same firm almost since leaving high school. I guess it was destiny calling that led us along the same path. pretty ironic really then that we had all gotten fed up enough at the same time to take the weekend and get out of town for once. Originally we had decided to go abroad somewhere backpacking, but what with the expense and my disliking of hot climates, and our "nice" boss Mr.Brown refusing point blank to give the four of us our four weeks owed holiday at the same time, it was my bright idea to just rent a car and just drive. "That'll do" I said as I jammed on the brakes hard. The car ground to a halt just by the gates of a large open clearing. Mike and Laura got out first and forced the small gate open so we could drive the car through and park out of the way. Having got our bags out, setup the tent and lit a small fire for the hot water, we sat down to warm up a bit and relax. Jane and I were the last to fall asleep and the first to wake up suddenly.....

Guest Palindrome Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 Where was the car? Where was Mike and Laura and where was the road? We were lying on the side of a valley near a rocky outcrop which lead down to a noisey stream. I could see the ground had been disturbed recently, a rut in the mud that seemed to follow a path up to where we lay. It was already mid-morning and the winter sun was low and coldly bright. A mist suspended itself near the valley floor. I stood up, shelling my sleeping bag and looked at Jane. Her expression echoed my thoughts, neither of us knew where we were. This was bad. The last village we had come across had been a long way from the clearing and that village had been in the middle of a secluded part of Wales. Where were our friends, did they do this to us or are they lost as well. How'd we get here? But none of these thoughts terrified me as much as exposure to this unforgiving landscape.
Guest Matt Whitfield Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 "Paul, i'm scared" said Jane and she looked it too, or was that just the cold? Either way she was ashen faced. What else could we do - we took each other by the hand and started to carefully pick our way down towards the sound of the water, following the tracks in the mud. What we expected to find down there, neither of us knew. But somehow we were drawn ever onwards. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest mashkhan Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 We carried on walking and walking, my legs felt heavier and heavier. The soles of feet felt like someone was pushing red hot pokers through them, yet we still continued. I had the feeling someone or something was watching us. After what seemed like hours we spotted a light, feeling rejuvinated at our discovery we journeyed our way to the light. In no time at all we had a reached a large house, it was in state of disrepair but there was someone inside. The gates creaked as we opened them. We walked towards the door of the house, our feet making noises against the gravel while we walked. Paul then knocked on the door and we waited...
Guest Palindrome Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 Very good, Chris! Shame it's only one post each for the story as I'm gagging for another go.
Guest Vector Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 I should have put a message at the begining regarding how the story was meant it good taste not an adult theme as my two children as well as others also read the MoDaCo forums. Shame really. indeed
Guest pisquee Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 Nothing happens. >Push door The door opens >N You have entered a dark, damp room, with a large elegant fireplace on one wall. It doesn't appear that anyone has 'lived' here for a long time. There is a large cupboard on the wall oposite the fireplace. There are doors to the North and South. There is a candlestick here. >_
Guest zzz Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 this was some room. Eerie was an understatement. Reminiscent of a horror game. Jane and I stood side by side and looked at each other. For one fleeting moment almost in unison; we could almost hear each others heartbeats. "What the hell is going on?" I asked Jane.... Jane?... Jane? I called several times but no answer. But then jane let out an almighty scream. "Whats wrong....where are you?" I called. Jane ran fast back down the stairs where she had wondered off behind me. In her hand she held a watch....but this watch was familiar to us both. It was Lauras! "Oh my god...where are they?" Jane asked. Laura would never leave her watch lying about. The watch was a present from Mike after Lauras mother and father went missing from their far eastern holiday five years ago. A chill ran down my spine. I took Janes hand as she started to cry. Where where Mike and Laura.............. :?:
Guest Coucou Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 "Don't worry Jane" I said, "Let's keep calm and search the house properly." My voice was steady, my nerves were anything but. I took a tent pole out of my bag and gripped it firmly, if only I'd brought a torch. Jane seemed to be calming down as we started searching the ground floor. Big empty rooms with broken windows and clusters of dried dead leaves was a recurring theme, we came to what must at one time have been the kitchen. This room was dark, a tree pressed up against the window blocking out most of the morning light. There was a door in one wall, hanging off one hinge. I pushed it gently, the wood was soft with rot but the hinges were rusted stiff. I pushed it harder, Jane's hand gripped mine more firmly. Slowly the door started to open bit by bit, moaning as if I'd woken it from a long sleep. Encouraged I pushed harder still, suddenly there was a tremendous crack as half the door broke off and clattered down some dark steps to the cellar. Jane screamed then cut it short, as the door landed it made a soft thud, what had it hit down there?
Guest timmillwood Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 neither off us wanted to go down, but being the man i thought it had to be me, with the tent pole in one hand and janes hand gripped tightly to the other we headed down, the strairs seemed to last forever, at first they just headed straight down but then started to spiral, after i few minuites i wondered how the door got down so quick and it was taking us so long, we then saw light so we started to move faster thinking it wasnt as bad if there was light, we got to the bottom and there was the door lay on a bed of soft grass, but when we looked up..........?
Guest siu99spj Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 The staircase had disappeared and was replaced by a sky so serene it was perfect, except for the fact it was green. It was then that both me and Jane started to giggle hysterically,
Guest nixy Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 Several hours had past and It was obvious after we had woken up from an uncomfortable hard concrete floor that we had somehow both been drugged. The disappearing staircase, the strange sky and the uncontrolable giggling had all been one long forced trip. But how on earth had we fallen into such a trap...who had done this to us and why. Things seemed to go from back to worse. "Oh my god...." she said as jane picked herself up off the floor. The watch.....the watch....its gone!! Mikes watch that we found earlier had indeed gone. Someone must have been in here while we were knocked out. We began to pat ourselves down and clean the dirt from our clothes that made our clothes smell so awful. The floor was like every other part of the house we had so far seen. Messy, unbearable and locked in a horrible smell that didnt seem to belong to this world. Jane and I made our say to the door and proceeded to open it. It'll be ok I said trying to reasure not just her but myself too. We WILL find the others and then we'll be on our way and this will all be just a bad set of memories. We struggled to find our way out of the house and it wasn't until we got into the light of day that the shock on my face became noticable to Jane. As I looked at her face I realised that she no longer looked human. Jane please dont scream but............. She didnt let me finish the sentence and told me that I too looked the same as her. What the hell had happened to us whilst we were asleep...?
