Guest kenman Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 hi all! ;) im now in process of tweaking my SPV after months of just basic calls and SMS usage. :) among the audio formats(.asf .asx .wax .wm .wma .wmv .wmx .wvx .mp3) our SPVs support, which of these formats are better in compressing(?) audio files. im used to ripping my CDs to wma format, and m just wondering if there's a format that'll result to a smaller compression. thanks a bunch! :D
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 64kbit wma is best imho. They're approximately 1/2 the size of a 128kbit mp3 and there isnt much lost in quality (not that it would be noticeable on the SPV anyway...).
Guest XGEOX Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 Supposedy ogg files are better than wma in terms of quality and filesize, but you need Pocket MVP to play them on the SPV... ...and I havent got that working yet :)
Guest Crispy Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 64kbit wma is best imho I don't think WMA is such a good format. WMA has a tendency to flatten high peaks and make them sound very "metallic". Also high pitched voices are completly destroyed... A good example is Bomfunk MC - freestyler (yaya, its old). It sound like sh** after being converted to WMA! I would suggest either ogg vorbis or just plain mp3, ogg if you want small files. Personally I use mp3 because I think Pocket MVP is too unstable & slow ... Just my 2 cents ...
