Mapping record button to backlight control?

Is it possible to map the record button to switch the backlight on and off, rather than going into settings and doing it manually from there? Something similar to the way PocketMVP uses the 7 key.

Could this be a registry tweak or would an app have to be coded in order to achieve this?

I ask specifically because Repligo doesn't have a backlight On button and it's annoying me having to read quckly all the time so the light doesn't go off before I reach the bottom of the page.

There must be other times when a quick press of the record button to switch the backlight on and off has to be very usefull.

If an app is made that mods the registry then it could be mapped to the Rec button. Best of all to make an app where you specify the path in reg and a selection of values for the app to loop through.

It would be good to have a tweak utility for the phone. Something like the Tweak series of programs you can get for Windows.
