Guest fergiem Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 Really sorry but I have searched to try and find out the answer to this problem already--- How do I add ringtones to my phone. I have stored the .wav files in the 'sounds' folder in the applications section but they do not appear on the phone. I'm a bit of a simpleton so if someone can explain this to me in very plain english I'd really appreciate it. Thanks
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 IPSMApplcations DataSounds That directory should be fine...?
Guest fergiem Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 Thanks for getting back - just realised they were still zipped! Told you I was a simpleton.
Guest fergiem Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 Hi - just wondering whether you could also tell me where to store .cab files - like 'smstools.cab' as I can't seem to get up and running on my phone (unless of course the tools do not offer predictive texting which I hope theydo)! Thanks Fergie
Guest fergiem Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 And I still don't know where to store mp3 files - cheers
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 cab files need to be installed, place them in IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccessories then on the phone go to ProgramsAccessories and the cab should be there ready for you to install. As for mp3 I presume you mean for music only, just place them on your storage card in a folder called Music

Guest blewer Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 You need to de-cert your phone, try 'HERE' :)/
Guest andylad Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 OMG!!!! how complicated is that ........also another little prob i'm trying to put some ringtones in but its saying iv'e got no space left iv,e ttried the obvious routes ...why can,t you store them on a sd card ?
Guest blewer Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 You can. I will look for midnights profile fix and post it when I find :) Good luck with de-cert, and you will need a GPRS connection to do so unless you are using pass-through. EDIT: Ok found it. All instructions are on the following post including a replacement normal profile which will allow you to have WAV files from your storage card as ringtones. Look 'HERE' Adam :(/
Guest andylad Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 thanks alot Adam :) .....much appreciated
Guest fergiem Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 I have just upgraded my ROM to 1.5.0.3 and I'm trying to put some of the .cab files back on the system. I'm following the steps above but am not having any luck. Is this version locked and do I have to unlock it to put .cab files back on? The process I'm using is to extract the .cab on my pc and then copy it to the phone. The file is called _setup and when I try and open it on my phone it comes up with a load of programming data but not the program I want eg smstools. If I have already extracted it once do I need to download it again and start afresh? Many thanks
Guest blewer Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 Copy the cab file to your phone and run it. Place it in IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccessories Then look for it in you start menu under accessories and select it.
