Im having trouble putting avi movies on the spv. Ive got a few films and watched them on media player but i want to see them fullscreen. I have downloaded the Divx player for spv and also virtualdub to resize the film so it fits my 256mb card. But i cant suss out how to use the programs sucessfully. Has anybody got a foolproof way of doing this please :?

Try my guide here.

Its about the fifth message down and explains how to resize or encode a movie so its full screen on your phone. If you need more help, PM me or put another message here.

I've been having the same probs too, I've followed the guide (and other stuff mentioned in the threads too), but everytime it says unkown audio format, followed by unknown videoformat, then unknown audio format 2, unknown video format 2.. (although since im not sober at the moment the unknown bit might be something else like error or something, but the numbers and audio and video part are right though :)

NEways... i've given up on it for a few days now, converting all my stuff to mpg with tmpg encode but my 40 meg seinfeld eps still turn out like 35 meg eps... they're good too watch, but not always smooth and chops up a lot... I'd REALLY like to have those same eps, smaller in size yet still good to watch AND free of choppiness ;)

Thanks in advance to all those who are about to post on this!

Are using ClintEastman VirtualDub settings by any chance? If you are then without the correct codecs installed on your PC (You must have the DivX codec and an MP3 codec) it won't work. Also, certain MP3 codecs will not work with ClintEastmans settings. Hence my guide goes through the steps with unknown variations in codecs.

What would really help is where the errors came from, VirtualDub, media player or PocketMVP. From there we can try to isolate the movies.

Small size = low quality/low frame rate. Thats a general law of encoding I'm afraid. I tend to find that DivX handles scene chages and bright lights much better than MPEG1, with a similar if not better bit rate. But with MPEG, especially with the low resolution of the screen, you shouldn't have any problems like you're mentioning. Are you sure the bit rate isn't too low? Also make sure you resize it for your phone AND you kill most other apps running in the background.

As goinnuts said, without any specifics we can't help. And as with all these things, the more info you can provide (What your trying to do and how) the more likely we can have a solution that works.

Thanks in advance to all those who are about to post on this!

Thats what we're here for. I hope some of the above helps.

I know exactly what Palmbeer's talking about.

The errors are shown in Pocket MVP when trying to playback movies. I haven't tried encoding my own clips but even the trailers created by ClintEastwood don't work. Comes up with the two(4 total) unknown format errors for both audio and video. I've tried loads more files now and cannot get anything to work.

Any clues ??

ive tried and tried to convert and all i got was audio errors as described by "Palmbeer" above . Tried all my avi movies and the same error occured. Then low and behold one of my films worked!!! So i must be doing something right!! So why doesnt it work for the others please??? Great picture by the way with "siu99spj"'s settings THANKS

Could you possibly post one of the movies (Or a clip from) on the board? If not, E-Mail one to me personally (PM me for my E-Mail) and I'll see if I have the same problems on my phone. It might make me able to understand the problem a bit better.

Otherwise I'm afraid I'm fresh out of solutions, sorry.

Not really, its just gone silent [-( . Its strange as I've never had the problem. :-s

Just so people know, I use DivX 5.0.3 and Radium's rip of the Fraunhofer MP3 codec (Use Google to find it).

It might be that the codec that you are using screws up PocketMVP in some way, OR you don't have the latest version of PocketMVP. Click on the title to go to the site to get the latest version.

But thats me now out of solutions I'm afraid :) , but if you do send me a movie you're haing problems with, I can give it a go and see if its your phone or the codecs.

When you installed PocketMVP did you copy just the .exe to your phone, or did you use a .cab installer?

I just used the CAB file off malloc's site and installed it on my SD card. Also, as far as I know, I haven't modified it any way.
