Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 I bought one of these retractable sync and charge cables which works (just) but it also came with an adaptor that plugs into the mains and has a USB connector that the cable plugs into. The Problem is that the output on this adaptor is 12v (which does not make sense as USB is rated at 5v) and from what I understand the Axim does not have a voltage regulator that would enable this unit to be used (as the standard charger is 5v) without causing imediate damage or shorten the life of the battery. Any views on this to wether this is safe to use because I believe it is not As they sell this for Ipaq as well (they have the same batterycharger voltage) I'm concerned that people may be damaging their units with out realising it. The adaptor came from www.pdaaddons.com As I said above, what concerns me is they are selling a mains adaptor for a USB cable to plug into and it's more than twice the voltage of a USB port :? As my qualifications are in powerelectronicsbatteries and chargers to name a few :) I do know a bit about power conversion etc or am I missing something stupid?
