Guest Mike Wagstaff Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 I've created a JScript-powered webpage that hooks into the Transport for London SMS journey planner. It allows you to generate an SMS that will return a text message containing a journey plan for you (i.e. train/bus times, any other relevant details). All you need to do is follow the prompts, which ask you for: 1. Your starting point. 2. Your destination. 3. Your departure time (or desired arrival time should you prefer). The download will extract to a 3.5 KB HTML file, which you can copy to any location of your choosing (although if you plan to use it, you'll probably want to create a shortcut to it, or place it somewhere in the Start Menu folder hierarchy ;)). The code behind it is extremely simple, so if anyone wants to modify it any way, please feel free to go right ahead. I hope someone in addition to me finds this useful! :)SMS Journey Planner.zip
Guest Richie M Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 seems to work a treat :) Just one question, the number it sends the text to; is that a premium rate SMS number? I had a look on the Tfl site but couldn't find any mention of charges :D Good work Mike ;)
Guest fraser Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Hmmm, I'm not touching this until Richie M gets an answer...

As far as I can tell from what the TfL Text Messaging services page states, you only pay for sending the text message (i.e. whatever you normally pay for sending a regular SMS). The reply itself is free. I hope there's no premium rate charges involved, or else I'll regret doing my testing...
