Guest Han Derre Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Hi ! It's me again. The annoying norwegian with the stupendous questions ! I'm here to bring you grey hair, sleepless nights in frustration and agony over dumbass hi-tech, gadgetloving morons like myself. I managed to download the ROM-version 1.5 for my Qtek7070 (Tanager) and it rules ! It's so much faster !! No lagtime between menu's anymore ! No irritating moments with the hour-glass and nothing working....even though the ROM-update from the www.qtek.nu is "uncompatible" with the original ROM I managed to update it, rebooting with the rec. button pressed whilst pressing the power-button and getting the 3-coloured display. AND the best part....I can choose ringtones directly from the SD-Card ! Now all I have to do is to get into the reg.editor and change directory so that ALL my contacts eventually will have their own, unique ringtone, get a bigger SD-card and I'm finaly, truly 100% satified with my SmartPhone ! A big thanks to mavisdavis for the advice. Now, the 10.000$ question is: How the h... do I do that ? Get into the Registry Editor I mean ? If there is anyone out there who can help me, I would be very, I say indeed VERY thankful !! :) Hi again ! I found the Registry Editor here: http://www.orangesp.co.uk/ Installed it using after unzipping the files by double-clicking the icon on my PC. Followed the instructions of mavisdavis and it worked like a charm !! This is such a useful tip, I suggest one of the Moderators should make it "sticky". I'm not really sure what that means, but it sounds cool. ;) Thanks a lot mavisdavis ! This has been great !! Now I can download/convert ringtones from my 120 gb's of MP-3's using Audacity 1.1 and assign every contact with their own, unique ringtone. For instance, all my business contacts will have the "Working for the weekend" wav, my son the "Spiderman" wav, my daughter the "Ketchup-Song" wav (I HATE that tune, but she loves it !! hehe), my soccer-buddy will have the "Vi skal vinne alt på Ullevål" wav (The cupfinal-song made especially for Vålerenga for the cup-final in 1997), my babe will have the "You to me are everything" wav.... (if it gets sweeter than this, I'd better see my dentist....lol)a.s.o. Great work guys, I learn something new everytime I go here to search for help. Love this forum, you're the best !! :D
Guest Richie M Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Hi Han, the registry tweak for storing ringtones on the the SD card was found a long time ago by our tweaking (and graphics) master Midnight ;) have a look at http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=7695 in our Articles section :)
Guest fraser Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Yeah, but it's a tweak and nothing more. You had to hack it to make it work, and if you changed things on the sound setup page, it would break it. Plus, you couldn't do it with individual contacts. It was neat, but far from ideal. Myself, I'm holding off til Orange 1.6 comes out. Patience my pretties!!
Guest mavisdavis Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 I can not take the credit for this post as I was not the guy who found it out.Unfortunatly I cant remember who originally came up with the solution.I myself have upgraded to the iMate rom now and have applied this tweak and I'm pleased to announce that I can go into the settings>sounds and it no longer freezes my phone.RicheM, Sir Midnight did come up with the original tweak for ringtones on SD Card but it didn't allow individual ringtones to be assigned. So I accept this award on behalf of the unknown.Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest jamesh Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I used the tweak, can assign rintones for individual contacts from sd card but when the fone rings, still used the ringtone assigned on Smarttone. What could be wrong?
