Guest mjc1975 Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 I have had my SPV since December and have always been very thankful that nothing has ever gone wrong with it. However last weekend it has all changed. Eveytime I make a call, the phone locks up meaning I have to remove the battery to end the call - very annoying. Then to top it all off, whilst the handset was sitting unattended on the table with the key-lock on it decided to phone my girlfriends home phone 3 times and her mobile twice!! When she called back to find out what was happening, it rung her end and then answered itself even thoug it didn't ring at all my end or show a missed call etc!! Orange seemed baffled by this and seeing a I don't have care I can't replace it. It is now sitting in my drawer at home as it is too much of a liability to use. I have always been a big fan of the handset but I am really sarting to see why so many people are frustrated by it...
Guest goinnuts Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 actually sounds like you have an Intelligentphone 2002. :) sorry couldnt help that.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 This should be replaced under warranty I would have thought? P
Guest clv101 Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 "]This should be replaced under warranty I would have thought? Yes - sounds like a warranty replacement if you ask me. Care is insurance against you dropping it down the loo, it getting stolen etc - if it breaks of it's own accord within a year it should be replaced just like anything else.
Guest davidhorn Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 You're still entitled to have it replaced under warranty - in fact, depending on how you paid for it, you could even get your credit card company to take it up for you. Though, in my opinion, Orange have usually been very good when it comes to replacing phones under warranty. Mind you, they won't change mine and the screen is full of dust.
Guest flashflash Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 MJC, Ive had exactly the same problem with the phone not ringing!!. Just started a new topic , didn't spot your post. The phone last night, thought my home landline was calling it!!! I couldnt even stop the phone from ringing. I had to take the batt out in the end!!! I was indoors last night and I certainly wasn't calling myself! I also thought the phone was great, however, with such a basic phone problem (no ring or answer message), the phone is completly useless. Orange are refusing to replace the handset, they still think its a cell problem. They have passed on my complaint to the tech dept, so i will wait and see. Im switching back to my old nokia for the time being. Cant afford to miss calls, since its used for biz
Guest mjc1975 Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 I have decided to take everyone advice and get my phone replaced under manufacturers warranty. I called Orange and was given a referral number to a electrical repair centre. When I called them I was told by a very bored sounding lady that they dont replace them they only repair them. I have to now send it away for 3-5 working days!! What really puzzles me was that when Orange originally diagnosed the problem the said it was software (they even offered to give me microsofts number for all the good that would do!) If there is an bug in the software what good will sending it away to an electrical repair centre do?! In the meantime I will be without a handset for 3-5 days still paying line rental for that period. Hardly seems fair seeing as it only has gone wrong through a design flaw...

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Also don't want to spoil it for you but 3-5 is not a very good estimate unless Hays have changed their service quality :? Most report that it takes 10-14 days to get the phone returned.
