Guest fozzie Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Just discovered this service last night which might be of interest to some of you. From their website - http://www.greenlightwireless.net : "Greenlight Wireless Skweezer™ service saves you time, money and hassle when you browse the wireless Web on your PDA or SmartPhone. Web sites are dynamically reformatted for your handheld display, reducing or eliminating side-to-side scrolling. Web pages load up to 8x faster and can be viewed with or without images. Optimized pages have a dramatically reduced file size, saving you money on wireless data charges. Skweezer provides 128-bit browsing security, doesn't take up any space on your hard-drive, and works on any device that can load a Web page regardless of platform. Skweezer™ is the smart way to browse the wireless Web." You can sign up for a free 1 month trial and then it's $9-99 for a year. It seems to have quite a few natty little features, including support for multiple email accounts. If I get a chance, I'll do a few email tests to see if it's GPRS data useage is any more or less efficient than Xmail or Sunnysoft's Mail Center.
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Is it working on your SPV though? I cant find any references to Smartphones on their site - it's all PDA-related. If the screen sizes are too different it wont be much better than PIE How's it working out?

Finally there is a solution that makes browsing the Internet with a handheld device faster, easier, and better. Skweezer uses our powerful handheld rendering technology to optimize Web content for your wireless-ready PDA or SmartPhone, dynamically reformatting Web pages so that they're easier to view, load faster, and have a smaller file-size." I've only really had a quick dabble so far - email works fine and it does make viewing websites that would normally be impossible to view a reality. I've only spent about 1/2 an hour with it so will spend more time looking at over the next couple of days (whilst piggy backing my home Net connection - now I'm on a 'proper' GPRS tariff!). So far so good though :)
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 thanks for the update fozzie I saw the mention of smartphone, but couldn't find anything under their demo section or anything (could be that I'm being stupid AGAIN though!) Let us know how it goes, I might have a go but it wont be this week (work seem to want me to... I dunno, work or something! and the missus is getting cranky about being a mobile widow)
Guest fozzie Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 There's nothing to install or anything. You just sign up and obtain a user ID and login. You then login to Skweezer site in PIE and from there, browse to wherever you want to go. The web pages are then dynamically 'skweezed' before being sent to the SPV.
