possible to set Registry keys using XML ??

After the umpteenth auto reset, I'm getting p-ed off redoing all my registry settings.

What I'd like, is to be able to create a bit of XML which contains my personal registry entry changes for the following...

1) StartMRU list

2) StartMenu list

3) Set middle button to Task Manager

4) Custom profile pointer

I've seen XML which appears to change registry entries, but I cannot seem to get them to work for me. To code it into a program seems trivial (well I could do it in VB), something that reads a parameter file and updates the registry according to the keys/values found in the file.

Am I wishing for something that is impossible for some reason, or has it already been done??
