Guest rlynch356 Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Maybe somebody will have this figured out - anyway Here's the scoop. to enable Dual Band you need a ESN - my Tanager,SPV doe snot have this is there anyway to get this # off the phone either through software or otherwise? As it stands we are all using them via the PCS channel in the US - this might be the only way to do it but i thought i would check. This is through At&t btw in seattle next question - Secure WAP for At&t does anyone have the settings? Third and final question - mMode i have have i think is the page (it's wml) http://mlife.ust01.visi.com i believe you need to access this via secure WAP - i could be totally off base here but i think these might work as a dual band if we can figure out the ESN on them and the rest of the features on mMode would be enabled
Guest jctune Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 What do you mean by 'Dual-Band'? In the US, AT&T is using both the 1900 and (rolling out eventually) the 850 mhz bands. In Europe, they use the 900 and 1800 mhz bands (I think). On the SPV/Tanager, the GSM and PCS band stuff just refers to these bands. If you set it to GSM, it looks to use 900 and 1800 mhz. If you set it to PCS, it looks to use 1900. There's no difference in functionatility between the two settings. Since AT&T doesn't support these bands for anyone, there's absolutely no way you can get it to work (there's nothing to connect to). In terms of accessing mMode, I haven't been able to do it. I'll try playing around with settings and the page you've referenced when I get back in a coverage area tonight (no cell coverage at all where I am right now).
Guest jctune Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 Of course, I just realized what they're referring to. The rep you talked to thinks that you want Multi-Band, like the Siemens S46 or the SE t62u. A Multi-Band phone is capable of working across different standards, such as GSM and TDMA for the S46 and GSM, TDMA, and AMPS for the t62u. Needless to say, the SPV models only support GSM, so no multi-band for us.
