Hi all

I recently visited the US and was unable to use my SPV. When I tried to switch bands on arrival, instead of being able to choose from the select band menu, I just got a '1' and flashing cursor in the field. So, a week in Nashville with no phone.. has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix?

I had this problem. Was very angry.

What I ended up doing was hard resetting my phone. This removed the "1" and replaced it with the PCS/GSM option.

This also deleted all my contacts.

But thankfully i was able to use my orange backup on the At&T network to install all my contacts.

Hope this helped.

Aha, I didn't know how to hard reset so didn't try it. I've synced contacts with active sync so i'll give it a go. thanks a lot.

Why would this happen? Doesnt the phone automatically switch bands? I need to know because I will be coming back to Canada soon and I know they are using 1900.

Are your phones locked?

I too thought the SPV would choose the correct band automatically. Isn't that true?

If not, where is this 'select band' menu? I haven't seen it.

Thanks.

Follow the link to my original problem and how I solved it.

Details of where the GSM-PCS option reside in the menu are included.

Good luck!
