Guest someone Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 Just saw on [url=http://http://www.dopod.com/gb/product/pg-515-1.jsp]this So the question is: Are we also able to upgrade our SPV to Smartphone 2003 :?: 8) Here's a picture of the Canary running Smartphone 2003:1858_1.jpg
Guest Deemon Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 depends how much memory is required to run the new OS...could be that theres 32mb on board for a reason
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 The 32 meg is there for extra chinese language libraries i believe...
Guest vijay555 Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 someone: you might one to rename this Topic, putting a question mark on the end. There's been an Offtopic thread about misleading titles... anyone made any progress on ripping this rom yet? V
Guest Smart-Tech Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 I think there's missunderstanding, cuz what i saw is the same old Orange SPV only different language, also the ram still 16mb cuz i have one pcs in my hand
Guest gregbarton Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 does ne1 actually have a dopod yet willing to dump and post the rom ???!!!
Guest ajb3000 Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 and strip the chinese language libraries if possible...
Guest Gorskar Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 *ahem* Thats probably not entirely legal...
Guest vijay555 Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 There a bloke on the site already (newsgroups i think) with a dopod... even if you could rip it, how would you get a 32mb rom onto a 16mb phone? (ie our spvs?) Any chance Smartphone 2003 will be released for our phones officially? V
Guest pisquee Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 You get the 32 meg ROM from the dopod onto the SPV by getting rid of the chinese libraries.
Guest cyrilthefish Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 both the SPV and dopod have 32mb of ROM as far as i know (i think all windows smartphones do) the difference is the dopod has 32mb of RAM while the SPV has 16mb of RAM It should still run, but may have a lack of free available ram problem
Guest someone Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 someone: you might one to rename this Topic, putting a question mark on the end. There's been an Offtopic thread about misleading titles... There is actually a question mark at the end of this topics name (and always has been :) )
Guest vijay555 Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 Cheers someone, i didn't see ? before, but am happy one way or the other. am patiently but low-expectationly awaiting SP2003, so am trying not to get excited before time. Can't wait to start .net coding... If it works, it works... Can't really picture it being smooth in 16mb; sp2002 has performance issues with none of the wizz-bang .net :) V
