hi, when i first got the phone (yesterday) the screen timed out nicely after 10sec, completely dark,

so i changed it to 15 sec, now it gets darker very slowly untill totally black.

even now if i change it back to 10 or 5 it does the same? crazy mofo machine, but dont ya still love it.

any ideas? (battery life 1 day? sound ok to you?, no video no music)

Check the "screen save" selection. On will keep the screen on once the backlight has gone off and "off" will turn the screen off after a set time.

1-2 days is about all you get from these phones in battery life.

the screen does go off and it starts to go darker after the set time, but it takes about a minute for the screen go off slowly getting darker in about 4 stages over a minute

weird eh

OK, theres not a brightness setting is there?

and do you save much battery with the screen saver set to turn the screen off completly? cos i can read the screen ok even without the backlight on.

im thinking now it must me working ok, but whats the time for the screen saver mode to kick in after the backlights gone off? you cant change it can you?

sorry for the muddle in this post.

Is it possible the battery is coming off or that the phone is rebooting or something?

I only ask because if you take the battery off (as opposed to doing a proper shutdown), the screen does something similar to what you describe and seems to fade out slowly. Try and see if this is the same thing...

Just a guess :)

should the whole screen go blank,if screen saver is on, the same time the back light timeout kicks in?

OK, I've actually watched what my phone does so I can tell you what happens on mine :)

With the backlight timeout set to 5 seconds and screensaver enabled...

After 2 seconds, the backlight dims *slightly*...after 5, the backlight goes out completely. About 1 minute later, the screen gets switched off completely (just goess off, no fading).

I tried turning the screensaver to disabled and the screen didn't turn off after a minute. However, when I tried turning it back on, it didn't seem to take. I had to go back into power management, check it was enabled again, choose done and then it switched off again after a minute ;)

Anyway, HTH :D

No worries :)

It's always better to know that your phone is "normal" than worry that it's broken ;)
