DESCRIPTION:

The bell curve shows the relative percentage of customers for a product, in this case a converged Smartphone, over a period of time. Specifically the SPV/Canary model.

This Graph has been segmented into user types to indicate which 'type' purchases at what stage in the life-cycle of the product.

It is broken into:

Innovators - People fundamentally comitted to new technology on the grounds that it is bound to improve our lives sooner or later.

Early Adopters - "Vissionaries". Wants to be the first to use a technology to make a break with the past and start and entirely new future. Read in context of business and government.

These previous two categories make up the 'early adopters'. The Innovators (techies) want to explore the technology whereas the Vissionaries want to exploit it.

Early Majority - Pragmatists. Neutral about technology and look to adopt innovations only after a proven track record of useful productivity improvement, including strong references from people they trust.

Late Majority - Conservatives. Pesimistic about the ability to gain value from tech investments and don't undertake them! Very price-sensitive.

Laggards/Skeptics - Not really interested. More critical than helpful.

Please note that due to this referring to a SPV/Canary model, I am assuming that its life-cycle is over. Therefore please try to judge how early or late you acquired one.

Based on the diagram and the descriptions please indicate which category you fit into.

I don't really fit any of those categories.

I keep well informed about all new technologies via the web and analyse any new devices for myself based on the information available. I am very pragmatic about what actually will work and benefit me, but base this purely on technical analysis rather than track record. If a technology seems sensible I will then buy and commit to it immediately.

I think this approach is an effect caused by the sheer volume of information that is now available via the web about any upcoming technologies, often well in advance of their actual availability.

Voted 1, Innovators, but I would also fit in the "Vissionaries" group: Wants to be the first to use a technology !! ...

Basicly I would think enthusiasts would be the best word ... but hei

I'd agree at not fitting into any specific category. However in terms of commercial adoptation i fit nicely into the visionaries category (at least as far as my wallet will allow me).

However i would in future certainly aim to move into the innovators section.
