Problem with Airplane mode on - cannot switch it off

I just landed at Amsterdam for a trade show, tried to switch my phone back to regular mode (I switched it to airplane mode before my flight) and it does not work! When I use the button, select "Aeroplane off" I get: Confirm Airplane mode could not be turned off. Try again? Of coarse I tried many times and no help. Seems like all phone-related services are not enabled - cannot select network etc. But the phone itself is working fine, tried my SIM card in regular Nokia and it works too.

Is there any other way, how to put it on? If I will have to do hardreset, I will loose everything, so looking for smart solution.

Is this known bug? I have 1.5 software loaded.

Interesting is, that my e100 works even without any SIM card now. Of coarse, without radio functionality.

RadioAeroplane mode set to off will disable the SIM so the phone can only be used as

a PDA.

I have had it a happen before but normally a second attempt at switching the mode

works.

I had a similar problem on my red-e..

I had to turn off my phone, remove the sim (not sure if this matters), reinsert the sim, power up the phone. Once the phone was up again, I was able to turn Airplane mode back off (radio turned back on).

Could be that the SIM is not locasted properly.

Situation is, that nothing helped - I tried three different SIM cards, tried really everything possible and no result. I also discovered, that phone is not charging - when is off, LED is on when on charger, but its not charging battery and when I turn it on, LED is flashing even when charger is plugged and of coarse its not charging too.

So I decided to hard reset it - switched it off, on with record button, used the action button to enter menu and option 8 to delete IPSM. Then it restarted after IPSM check and phone was empty but - RADIO OFF AND IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN IT ON. So I refused to do anything as I think, that the phone itself is damaged somehow. No idea what happened, but when I will return I will bring it to provider for repair/replacement.

I don't think the radio can be turned back on until the SPV accesses a selectable network. I assume you have roaming activated for your SIM.

Have you tried checking Settings - telephony - Networks

Change it to manual and try Menu - Select Network.

I've never used my SPV for roaming yet but its probably what I would try :wink:

Its not roaming problem - I stopped here in Orange store at Amsterdam and the guy tried his own SIM card too. Same problem. I=m using SIM card from e100 in the Nokia phone what I had to purchase and it works here.

When I try to select network, it will report error.

Can it find any networks ?

If the Band selection is set to GSM and you can't 'Find a New Network' on Manual or Automatic then I'm out of ideas. You could always sell the SPV in Amsterdam for its vibrate function :shock:

I can switch to manual or automatic but it will not find anything. It shows NO NETWORK I think. When I try find other network it reports error like "could not finish this request" or so. I am at the internet coffee now and dont have the phone here with me.

It is that Eurotel 1.5 update what you tested few weeks ago. Phone is e100 (eurotel) and simcard is eurotel too, but we tried also Orange simcard.

OK. I´m back. My last idea before I wanted to put the phone to local service - I tried to install my 1.5 software update again. Even when battery was quite low, I was able to install it and since that time all work fine. Phone is charging, I am able to switch between airplane on/off without any problems etc. No idea, what cased this error, but re-installation of smartphone update software helped.
