Pocket Music has killed Windows Media Player!

I installed Pocket Music a few days ago, but because of the performance problems (and the fact that it doesnt play wma) I decided to remove it.

However after uninstalling it, I havent been able to use Media Player - it just won't run at all.

I've tried runnning it from the shortcut and directly from the exe (using Smart Explorer), but it still wont run. :)

What could Pocket Music have done to stop Media Player from working?:x

It definately is Pocket Music thats done this, because I havent installed or removed anything else recently.

I dont want to do a hard reset (which I assume would restore media player), so if anyone can suggest an alternative I would be very grateful.

At worst, I'll have to convert my wma to mp3s and continue using Pocket Music without the equalizer and megabase.

Anyone else tried running Media Player since installing PM?

Did you try powering off and on again? otherwise you have no choice but to do the dreaded hard reset :)

Yes - i've tried turning it on/off and reinstalling then deleting PocktM again (not sure why that would work, tried it out anyway:wink: )

I really dont want to hard reset, so I think I'll convert my wma back to mp3 and continue using PM. Hopefully they'll come out with a new version which fixes the performance bugs...

I have not had a chance to play with this app but I would suggest you try and

email the author before hard resetting.

I don't know what all the fuss is about with the hard reset...

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but a hard reset resets the phone's internal memory right? So unless you backup the ipsm bit (wich is useless if I'm correct since then you backup the registry and stuff too and thus the bad part) the only other option would be to install the apps again and get the settings back..

Now I haven't had my SPV for long, but in my case we're talking about what? 7 apps or something? the rest is installed on my sd card (got a 256 mb one today 8) ) so all in all thats probably 15 mins of work or less....

@XGEOX

I just tried exactly what you did install Poket Music (Which I laready did since last week) unstall it and my WMP is still working perfectly, out of curiousity I installed Poket Music again and unstall it WMP is still perfect, please note that I have not done any hard reset so far, I believe there was some problems encountered by your phone during the unstall of Pocket Music so you may have to really consider a hard reset :)
