If you have a PC, simply use outlook, and establish a sync to the phone, then any contacts on your pc, will magically appear on the phone.

Outlook and activesync are both on the cd that came with the phone.

Yep.. You can. But you need "Microsoft Outlook" mail client installed. Outlook comes with the Microsoft Office package. But if you had bought your phone from Orange, Outlook is probably available in the CD that came along with the phone.

But is it possible to just synch the tel numbers or do all the email addresses etc go across as well? :?:

Not sure, i'll give it a try when i have a back up of my addressbook.

Otherwise everything goes over.

If you only want to sync phone numbers (which, given the capabilities of the phone, seems a bit pointless to me :) )then you can create a seperate contact that only has the phone number in if you like.

Then, you could create two categories, one for the phone and one for everything else then you can add all the number only contacts to the phone category and tell activesync to only sync that category.

I've got a load of contacts for work that I don't want on my phone so this is what I've done to seperate them - if I want them on my phone, I just add them to this category and they're sync'd straight away ;)

I agree...just categorize your contacts in Outlook. (ie. Personal, Business, Restaurants, Medical, etc.) then symc only the catagories you wish to be on the phone.

I catagorize like this:

Personal-People (family and friends)

Personal-Services (plumber, my landlord, stores, etc)

Alliance (my employer locations and employees)

Medical (doctors, hospitals, insurance)

Freelance (my freelance contacts)

Headhunters (head-hunters in my industry)

Procter & Gamble (one specific customer that I work with and all of their contacts)

This method really keeps the Contact list organized for me. So people are listed on multiple categories as well. For example I work with a friend so they are categorized under Alliance and Personal-People. One entry...but they show up in both categories.

By the way.....

If you are syncing with your work PC and your work contacts are listed in your Office Outlook Exchange Server...the contacts wont sync over from Exchange unless you specifically specify then to. I dont know how to do that.

The phone will by default sync with your personal address book only.

I like the Services one - very good idea - I'll be having that ;)

Not sure about "Personal Services" though ;-)
