Guest Simon Desser Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 PLEASE IGNORE WHAT I WROTE BELOW - I SHOULD HAVE READ THE IMATE THREAD BEFORE TRYING THIS    As Mono points out, the phone doesn't work on Orange after doing what I did  - Moral of the story, read up before opening your gob, and keep a full back up (not just IPSM) on a card :) The issues arrive when people try to reapply the last Orange UK update after installing the latest I-Mate version. If you're feeling brave/bored and you fancy having SOME of the "1.6" ROM benefits, WITHOUT losing any of your data/settings etc. here's what you can do ;) 1) Using USBTerm, make a back up of your current IPSM to an SD card. 2) Put phone in Canary mode, and run the IMate 1.5 upgrade You will then lose all your stuff as your IPSM gets erased! 3) Put phone in Canary mode, and run Orange UK 1.35 update. 4) Using USBTerm, restore your backed up IPSM. You're then left with a 1.35 ROM, with all your data/settings in tact, with all the Orange UK settings untouched, but you'll have a FULLY working SMS character counter, and you can use ringtones on your SD card 8)
