Guest nobznss Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 No offense taken. I think it's a really good article. I think it's rediculous that people blame video games and movies for their dumb behavior. In the end they do have free agency and can control their actions.
Guest matthewjames Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 good article, and it's crazy that music and video games are blamed for people's behaviour.
Guest Coucou Posted September 24, 2003 Report Posted September 24, 2003 It's interesting to see how often media things, film, tv, books, and now games are often blamed for altering peoples behaviour. Obviously the people concerned need to be slightly unbalanced to start with but these things can have a genuine influence. The book which has influenced most serial killers (and I'm not even talking wars) is the Bible. I'm not sure how Ezekiel would react to being sued though...
Guest nickcornaglia Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 I can sympathize with the young ones described here and blame the video game developers. In my youth, I dressed like a plumber and jumped on peoples heads just to get a girl!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 Did you eat magic shrooms too? ;p
Guest fraser Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 They won't get a penny. It would set a dangerous and stupid precident, and destroy the entertainment industry. Personally, I reckon that the parents should be legally responsible for any crime a minor committed. In this case, they let their kids play unsuitable games and let them have access to firearms. That's at least worth a manslaughter charge and a few years of jail time, we're talking about the needless loss of a life here. Start that, and you'll suddenly start to see parents take more of an interest in their kids upbringing than they currently are devoting to the idiot box.
