Me again, sorry for all the questions...

MSN messenger, prolly one of the coolest things that impressed me on ma phone.

but....

do you know if you can get it to 'beep' or assign a sound when either people log on or when a chat comes up, like in PC MSN. Would be very handy.

MSN Messenger for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Smartphones

As part of the MSN Messenger Security Update, Microsoft is developing updates for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Smartphones. Please check back at this web site for updates and more information.

taken from..

From the quote above, I figure that the current version will NOT work, and my worry is even if a new version is released - knowing microsoft, they wont be ready, and we will be left without MSN for a while. :/

You've gotta hope they wouldn't be stupid enough to kill support for versions of MSN that are used in their own mobile OSs...

If they do I guess it'll be time to go buy another Smartphone OS messenging client... Rather annoying tho.

Anyone else comment on whether this is likely to happen or not? I guess MSN Messenger isn't something that could be upgraded/patched?

I guess this could end up as part of a firmware upgrade after all...

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/res...er/default.mspx

"As part of this update, all .NET Messenger Service clients will be required to upgrade to compliant versions of Messenger service client software by October 15, 2003. Microsoft is developing updates for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Smartphones.

Pocket PC and Pocket PC Phone Edition updates will be available through Microsoft in early October to prevent any service disruptions. Microsoft is also working on updates for Smartphone users with its partners.

Visit this Web site in early October to download the MSN Messenger client for Pocket PC and Pocket PC Phone Edition, and to learn more about the availability of Smartphone updates from Microsoft and its partners."
