I am having some serious difficulty SIM unlocking SPV, but I have been told that the problem may stem from Having Bootloader 0.99, so Is there a method to which I can downgrade back to a 0.98 version of the bootloader?

You need to update from the Canary screen.

Power the phone off then press and hold record button

while pressing the power button.

When the phone starts up release the keys and wait untill you see the three colour Canary screen.

Now re-run the update.

And no need to shout :)

Hi, after reading a fair bit on this forum, I ordered an E100 from Orange.

This seems like a similar question to mine:

I have bootloader 1.00, ROM 1.5.0.29.

Am I right in understanding that if I run the "update" from mono's site, I'll have ROM 1.35 and bootloader 0.98, and that 0.98 works with the SIM unlock program?

Once the downgrade has run, will Orange Update give me the new (1.5.0.29) ROM back, or do I have to restore that from a backup?

If so what backup functions does bootloader 1.00 have? I'd like to do a complete backup to 64MB MMC card first, but not sure if I need to (or can) back up the ROM separately to restore after downgrading the bootloader.

Thanks in advance.

1, Yes but if you have a new E-100 you may get problems

as some have been known to not downgrade and get stuck on the sunset screen.

2, No the 1.5 update has not been released to the public you will have to use Winhex to make a usable backup to completely install the 1.5 OS

3, Backing up with USBTerm the only things worth doing are copying the bootloader (a 4MB card is fine for this) and the

IPSM.

thanks for the advice - don't know if it's worth buggering my brand new phone if people have had problems with the recent tanagers

think I'll just de-cert and wait for 1.6. the sim unlock would've been nice but not essential.

cheers.

If you have a SD card reader .. (even a printer with an SD Card reader) .. it's fairly easy just to downgrade the bootloader of the phone. Which will result in you being able to Sim-Unlock you phone .. and keep ROM 1.5 on it

so it's the older ROM version in that 'update' and not the bootloader that can cause the newer phones not to start?

my SD reader should be arriving today, does anyone know where I can get a winhex file of 0.93 / 0.98 (not sure which is best).

sounds like downgrading shouldn't be a problem really if I back my current bootloader up, but not sure exactly how to do that - do I have to use usbterm on 1.00?

Hi. Typical Newbie question, but just wanted to be sure:

I have an E100 running bootloader 0.97 and ROM 1.5.0.29 - is this likely to be a usable combination for SIM unlocking? If not, what do I need to do?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help out.

Bootloader V0.97 where did you get that from?

It's only the bootloader that is important, so you will be ok to SIM unlock ;)

Great stuff.

About the bootloader - just lucky I guess, it shipped with it.

Thanks for your help, I'll get on with tweaking my phone! ;)

Run the update from the Canary screen (press action button & voice record when starting up the phone)

Should sort you out. ;)
