origonal spv are there updates to the software?

I have an origonal orange spv, and i have seen all these new smart phone's comming out with different software on them. i would like to know what if i can upgrade my smartphone softwrae to take advantage of bug fixes for instance the spv e100 has a character counter on its compose message. can i get this? if so where from? here are my spv software details

I think most people have been waiting on the Orange 1.6 update which hasn't been released (not sure if its gonna be).

I have the Qtek 1.5 software on my phone or there is the Imate software (which I've never tried). Both are application unlocked by default.

You will lose some of the Orange specific programs (like backup) and the Orange GPRS settings but that doesn't bother me too much.

If you do a search there are some topics on Qtek/Imate that will help.

You can upgrade but the official line is don't as each upgrade

is designed for specific networks etc.

(but the Qtek is nice :))
