Guest londonlad Posted September 14, 2003 Report Posted September 14, 2003 Dear fellow gamers, Im sure its possible to make a GBA or ngage emulator, is it not? The hardware should be enough, coz apparently Ngage is more powerful than GBA, but Ngage has a 104Mhz processor. Ngage games (MMC cards) should also fit in the spv right?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 14, 2003 Report Posted September 14, 2003 The phone is not powerful enough as apart from running the games it need the processing power to emulate the GBA as well.
Guest Gorskar Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 the Ngage also has built in (software layer) 3D acceleration. I dont think it would be very easy to emulate that! - Besides which think a GBA has something like a 16mHz processor, and the SPV still cant manange the emulation, so with a 100 mHz processor in the nGage we have no chance!
Guest spacemonkey Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 And how could we manage to emulate the fun of having to power off and remove the battery to change games of the ngage? But seriously, emulation requires a LOT more power than the original device has. SPV speed devices emulate the GBA at about 1 frame per second which is TERRIBLE, there is no way it'll emulate the ngage, even on future faster devices.
Guest vijay555 Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 Anyone want to do me an emulator for a Blue Gene protein folding supercomputer... The SPV isn't powerful enough to emulate some older, slower systems - eg. frame rate slow downs on Gameboy emulator.. emulating an ngage (if you'd want to!) is extremely unlikely, (the equivalent power to a Playstation One)... Good custom coding shows off the system well (spacemonkey, xetra's work etc), but you shouldn't get overly hopeful about what can be done with SPV hardware. If you read the MSDN white paper on coding for its ARM chip, it can really make you cry! No efficient divide function, lookup table problems, etc boo hoo... BTW: i have no idea what i'm talking about... V
