Guest PalmBeer Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 Afternoon all, My friend has a problem decerting his SPV.. He doesnt have an orange simcard, only one from KPN the Netherlands. Now in order to decert the phone he needs to make a GPRS connection first, then run action register and then use developers.orange.com to unlock it (rom 1.3.5). Problem is connecting to GPRS. Now as far as I know all the info needed to make a GPRS account on the phone is the AccessPointName (APN), username and password, and in some rare cases a DNS server, secundairy DNS server and IP adress, although those last three are hardly ever needed.. Now he called the KPN Customer Services already and they stated they didnt support the SPV and all he could do was try with the standard PDA settings.. I got some info from that (APN: internet, user: KPN, pass: gprs) but for some reason it wont connect. It just stays on busy dailing and then gives an error stating he cant connect... Has anyone ever succesfully connected to KPN Netherlands with his SPV? Also, do you HAVE to use an orange sim to decert the phone? And can I use my orange sim to have his spv connect to GPRS and then fill in my number on the developers.orange.com page? even though I already used it with my own SPV? Will that give any troubles? If anyone can help me / answer any of these questions I'm forever in your debt!!
Guest PalmBeer Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 Problem seems to have shifted to myself too. I could use GPRS through Vodafone but now it doesnt want to even choose the Vodafone network when I insert a vodafone sim... Phone is unlocked (It doesnt ask for an unlock key and as I said i've used vodafone GPRS before) so I'm a bit stuck at the moment.. any ideas?
Guest martin Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 You can app unlock by using the pass through option for the SPV internet connection. See the recent topic 'How do I hard reset I'm a noob' for similair discussion. Posted from my SmartPhone!

But any idea's on how to get GPRS working on my friends SPV? Cause if even it's app unlocked he still needs to get on GPRS once in a while
Guest martin Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 Palmbeer You right about only needing the APN, username and password for the internet connection. Create a GPRS connection (APN,user, pass,DNS), allocate it to the Internet Connection and set IE to 'Select Network:The Internet'. Thats all thats needed for HTML WEB browsing. From a Google search I have seen the internet, KPN, gprs data as supplied by KPN CS and I have also found internet, blank, blank, 62.133.126.28, 62.133.126.29 for PDA setup. Try both. Note: Make sure that KPN has created the APN internet on your network account otherwise the call will be refused. You can access HTTP WAP by adding a proxy connection containing the IP address. WSP WAP will require the creation of another GPRS connection which is allocated to the WAP Connection. This GPRS conenction has APN, username, password which can be taken from any GPRS WAP phone. Hope it helps.

I tried all the settings before, but stupidly enough, the only proof I had that his phone has the correct APN was him saying he copied some data from his siemens s55 wich he had before the spv and didn't change that.. He has I-mode and probably like with vodafone live and vodafone gprs (both using the same connection, just a different door to the GPRS network, or APN) KPN has the same with their GPRS subscriptions (internet APN) and I-Mode supscribers (Imode APN i think..) I'll have him call KPN tomorrow to find out exactly wich APN is connected to his number and then try the settings once more.. It HAS to work then  Neways, we'll figure it out probably from here, so thanks again!!!
